Replying BY PERSONAL MESSAGE TO ME rather than responding in the thread*, can you tell me the names of as many of the 1988 Dual Targetmasters Robots (*NOT* the guns) as possible *without* resorting to any referance book, internet resource etc.
I'm not trying to find out how good your memory is, I just have a theory that you'll all forget the same one.
While you're at it, again without having resorting to external resources have a guess at how many G1 Autobot Helicopters vs how many G1 Decepticon Helicopters there are ........
* so you don't give anyone else a hint and bias the results.

I haven't a clue what the guns are called. I'm going to have to look em all up when I write the reviews.
Come to think of it neither do half the ebay sellers out there. When I was arming my set I had to check description and picture and frequently get the seller to crosscheck with TFU what they meant!

One tale of trauma due to the dual Targetmasters has already reached my ears.
And it appears I did not pay enough attention to the comics.

I thought this thread said 'Surrey Time' at first! Naturally as a Yorkshireman I very nearly didn't enter it!

That's as maybe, but it is still in the South. Not it's fault, like.

So what are the answers to the questions then?
I didn't bother send in an answer because it's clearly going to be more than the obvious six Double TMs, or Phil wouldn't have asked the question. And I can't get my list of helicopters out of single figures.

No, it was just the regular Double Targetmasters, Phil couldn't ever remember Needlenose and he was wondering if everyone else kept forgetting too.

Needlenose and Spinister were the first ones I thought of due to their memorable appearance in the Marvel comics.

Incidentally, I always thought they were called Double Targetmasters, not Dual Targetmasters, but I'm not sure where I got that from. Maybe the 1988 UK toy catalogue. Can't find a scan of it on-line. Martin

Also, wasn't it odd how just for one year, everything that wasn't a one-off came in multiples of three? Sparkabots, Firecons, UK & US Pretenders, Double Targetmasters, new Headmasters, Triggerbots, Triggercons, Monsterbots, Seacons, Autobot Powermasters... Only the Decepticon PMs and the Pretender Beasts came in twos.

Needlenose was the last toy I remembered, but didn't get the name. Landfill was the other to cause me trouble.

I've been convinced they were called dual TMs but have had plenty of information to the contrary since I put the reviews up

I had Quickmix when I was little, I still remember getting him for Christmas!
Also Needlenose's role in the Mayhem Attack Squad has made me never forget him. The storyline where Carnivac kills him for revenge was the one where my mum decided I wasn't allowed the comic anymore because it was too violent!

I was always puzzled why Quake (a toy I had) wasn't part of that group. He just got to fight Megzatron that time instead. Any idea why Quake wasn't in there?

Yeah, and for some reason Thunderwing's crew in Matrix Quest was made up of two out of three DTMs and two out of three Triggercons. But the missing members got even with appearances in the Unicron battle, its aftermath and G2... where both Quake and Crankcase got ignominiously bumped off by Jhiaxus's crew, alas. Martin.

Incidentally, I always thought they were called Double Targetmasters, not Dual Targetmasters, but I'm not sure where I got that from. Maybe the 1988 UK toy catalogue. I thought they were called Small Targetmasters for the same reason, though I can't remember which catalogue called them that. Likewise Nightbeat, Squeezeplay etc were Small Headmasters. What irritates me is when people refer to the binary bonded Nebulan (or human) partners as Targetmasters rather than the Transformers themselves. eg in an eBay listing, "Sureshot is supplied with his Targetmaster." No, Sureshot is a Targetmaster. (Same with Headmasters and Powermasters.)
