I'm sure we have all seen the stories regarding the ongoing tax screw ups from HMRC. Well their boss is going for the PR win here - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11265400It's nice that there is no responsibility or accountability from them as to how all of these errors occurred. Andy

The most worrying thing at the moment are the scams that are coming out of this cock-up. Some people have been receiving emails from people claiming to be from the HMRC and saying that they are due a rebate and in order to get it you have to hand over your bank details for the money to be deposited in your bank. This is of course a scam for unscrupulous people to get their hands on your bank details and HMRC have officially announced that any notifications they send you will be in the post only and not via email. If you ever receive such an email that looks like a genuine one from HMRC asking to hand over your bank details don't pay attention to it and just delete it.

Yeah, the scams are terrible.
I'm furious about the hole thing. Incompetence. And that prick who's 'in-charge'- Put me in a room with him!
