Seems like a decent read, will give it a punt as well.

I've lost interest in the movieverse but that does look more appealing than anything else TF-related at the moment. May as well try the first issue when it comes out.

That does look interesting.
And the solicits promise #3 has Bonnie, Clyde, and their transforming car!

I'll definitely give it a whirl. I enjoyed the last two issues of Nefarious so hopefully things can only get better.

That was unexpectedly interesting. One of only two IDW Transformers issue previews in the last twelve months to make me interested in buying the issue.

Indeed. Think I shall give it a go as well.

I shall be checking this out as well. The comics tied to the films have been much more interesting to me than the "flagship" comics these last few years.

Not bad. It managed to create a sense of mystery around the Transformers and evoke a sense of the period.

I'm pretty much done with buying $4 comic books (they're just not worth that price) but I have ordered #1 to give the series a try. If it's good, I'll pick up the trade though frankly it can't possibly be as bad as a McCarthy or Costa comic surely?

Doesn't quite pull it off, but it's a fun read, it knows what it wants to do and how to do it, and there's some ambition and invention here. Check Barber's notes on the First Seven and what he was thinking with each other: there's effort here. And Jetfire, of all robots, is convincingly presented as a scary menace.

It has a slight problem being poorly edited - the comic can't actually agree within itself and between comic and endnotes as to what the characters' full names actually are - but poorly edited seems to be becoming par for the course in modern comics unfortunately.
The general idea is decent, and I like the idea of the way it is told. Hopefully future issues will vary the style as we move forward through the decades (this will not read so well in trades but would work nicely in single issue format). It is certainly attempting to do something a bit different to the other Transformers comics that are around at the moment and should be applauded for the attempt if nothing else. (The fact that it is actually readable puts it head above most of its stablemates)
I am currently trying to decide whether I stick with this in single issues - bearing in mind how few other single issue comics I am currently buying - or switch to trades, running the risk of not being able to get it due to the lesser availability of IDW trades compared to single issues......

There's an editing cock-up with some of the names, but that aside this comic is a really good read. The characters are fleshed out despite it being 22 pages and the writing it decent. The sales haven't been that great compared to other Movieverse comics (for me personally, i dunno about in general) which is a shame because its on a par or better than most Movie books. Very tough trivia question:
In Marvel comics, which Transformer said:
"I can run a spectographic analysis and match-up the results to the geologic survey data I acquired from the city planner's computer. Sector Seven!"

Ah yes, the Lama issue Final Transformations where Megs slaughters a whole load of Autobots and Cobra Commander uses a thesaurus a lot.

I brought the first two issues of this yesterday and, although I have yet to read them I did have a quick flick through them and am impressed at how good it looks. Of course the proof is in the reading and I think I shall do that sometime today.

I've just read the first two issues of this and although I liked them I did get a little confused in the opening few pages of issue 1. The two main protagonists of the story appear to change names early on unless I am missing something. Early on the two men are introduced as Joseph Simmons (the bloke with the long sideburns) and Walter Wells (the bloke with the Seth Armstrong beard). The authors field notes at the end of the issue and also issue 2 however say that their names are Theodore Wells (the bloke with the long sideburns) and Walter Simmons (the bloke with the Seth Armstrong beard). Please tell me I'm missing something here.
Also the illustrator appears to enjoy putting the odd word in one full page illustration in both issues. Page 8 of issue 1 sees the word 'original' written on the ground while page 7 of issue 2 sees the word 'irreplaceable' written in the sky. Is these some kind of Easter Eggs or something?

Please tell me I'm missing something here. Only what editorial missed. There is indeed a flip-flop of names and identities in #1, with two characters changing name partway through the issue and being identified by different names in the writers end-notes. Very sloppy work by editorial there. Karl

It's a shame that has happened because the story is one of the better ones from IDW's output. It does however go to show that IDW just doesn't give a damn about checking their comics before release *cough*Continuum*cough*!

Just the typical crap editing we have sadly come to expect.
I got round to reading #1 of this. I have to say it left me cold. There's nothing wrong with it and it's a damn sight better than any Costa or McCarthy comic. It's well put together but for some reason I just can't pin down it just failed to engage with me. So, not a bad comic at all, just not my thing really.

Not having read number 2 properly myself yet but I got the impression that the name change wasn't due to crap editing but a 'jump forward' in story time to the next generation of these Sector 7 families.

Er, but the same people change names in issue 1! -Ralph They indeed do. They are stated in issue 1 as Joseph Simmons and Walter Wells but in the authors notes at the end of the very same issue they are referenced as Theodore Wells and Walter Simmons. Considering that its the latter set of names that continue into issue 2 I'm taking this as their actual names but its not only due to sloppy editing its also got to do with the writer changing (or forgetting) the names he had written down in the script earlier on.

So is this the first TF story where a real-life political leader is a main character?
