This should get a few people picking toys out to be repainted. Seeing we don't really like that much the ones they have done. With you being limited to having the new or used characters for each year - which toys would you use?
You can pick any Hasbro / Takara Transformers toy released 1984 - sept 2010. So if you think a ROTF toy would make a good 1994 Breakdown toy, you can say Hasbro just happened to have a time rift in their HQ.
Non-TF stuff not allowed - so those Rumble, Magnus armour, Springer one, swindle/blastoff etc.
For BOTCON / TFCC convention only - can anyone list all the characters, i'm sure we had them for the following years 94 Breakdown G2 97 BW 98 BW 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 Ironhide, Ratchet 06 07 08 09 Kup, 10 Pyro, Skybyte, Glench, Breakdown, streetstar, rapido, slice, gnaw, double punch, scorch, ravage

Of those, new characters I wouldn't mess with. G2 Breakdown too. 2001 -2003 are great.
Retrospectively I suppose the entire 2003 set I could prefer as the Universe Sideswipe mould though that would make the first two redundant so replace them with ehobby repaints. Or not.
Most of my changes would come after FP took over. Every set has some G1 thrown in that I question a little. Ironhide and Ratchet came before classics so at the time made sense, ditto Laserbeak and Buzzsaw and the jets, springer in the next 2 sets. But by 2008 classics and universe were clearly a perminant fixture so FP should have backed off the most well known G1 elements. Instead they have seemed obsessed with filling in the movie/season 3 cast along with other cartoon only characters. As a result we now have Botcon and retail versions of Ironhide Ratchet Springer Huffer Dirge Thrust Mirage Blur Jazz -ok SG technicall all have classic versions but these jazz particularly seem to have been designed with the intention of working as standard G1 at least from a distance. They could have had more intersting SG versions. Kup Scourge and Sweeps almost certainly.
Beyond that Thunderclash I would change because everything is wrong about it in every conceivable way. The enrgon Landmine mould or the classic Prime mould would have made far more impressive versions but even the Rodimus mould could have been much better with different colours and a different layout. Beyond my other reason Kup too should not have been done it just is the worst choce of repaint I can think off. Even with the great new head it doesn't look a thing like Kup.

I have the Botcon Thunderclash as a stand-in as my original which was shattered beneath the lurgy of GPS. It's ok, but I'd prefer something, well, better! The mould used is a bit crap.

I dont like the Scourge repaint - Cybertron Sidesways should have been Ratbat. The mode is like Scourge but Hasbro could have saved money & not bother remodelling the head.

Yes, it's very nice and suits the character amazingly well.

A crying shame. They were nifty. I would have liked to have seen more comic 2-packs too.

Oh yeah. Would love these two 2 packs - Springer vs Ratbat and Roadbuster vs Dirge. License to print money these were. Madness they went so quick.

Can't remember what I paid. $35 each, maybe? That was at Botcon right enough, but they were available for retail at the time. 50 isn't too bad I reckon. He said from a country that has exactly 3 TFs for sale in one shop. Perhaps I'm in withdrawl.

£35 sounds about right. $10 toy + $20 toy + comic book + exclusiveness. Stop it, you'll talk me into buying them. BBTS have had £50 off me for repaints already this weeks.

I don't usually type this, but the BBTS price is actually quite reasonable. Just look at what they go for on Ebay.

That's a turn-up for the books. They were going for silly money for a while there.
