To be fair, even land-based vehicle modes are somewhat redundant when the enemy are aeroplanes. I always wondered why the Decepticons didn't just set up base on the opposite side of the Earth to the Ark and laugh at the Autobots' attempts to interfere with their raids on energy plants, military bases and what-not. I doubt it would make for the most exciting comic or cartoon and it would be over in 1 issue or episode with the Decepticons winning pretty conclusively.

The thing with aerospace modes is that they have good reason to fear good, solid flak. Indeed, it gives you a certain amount of strategic mobility but if your opponent manages to guess where you are going to hit - especially if it is an objective raid rather than a strike aimed at destruction - you can find yourself flying into a really unpleasant concentration of fire.

See LSOTW issue 2... right? That could be held up as a good example of an airborne operation going... not entirely according to plan..... Great strips Andy. I have been following these quietly as they have gone up and have been most entertained. Karl

This one was drawn brand new yesterday as the original didn't quite fit in with the layout of the strips now. Andy
