I'm currently re-running my old TF parody strips over on the main page of my website - located here www.pixel-cel.com/weirdwithoutendThe update schedule is Monday - Wednesday and Friday as I work my way through the older ones. I may post some random stuff in the off days/weekends depending on time and does this mean some all new strips at the end of it I hear you ask? Well, yes - but you will have to wait a while longer to get to them. Andy

That Wolverine! He must have a movie coming out, or something.

You know I think you may be right there, but even so a quick scan of Marvel solicits on a monthly basis usually gives you six comics at least for the Wolverine fan.

Well as obviously moneygrabbing as possible, it might encourage people to pick up titles that they haven't in the past.

There are 8 Wolverine titles, plus mini-series and one-shots every month. And appearances in x-men team books. I counted them up from solicits a month ago and was stunned!

The problem is it doesn't. The titles don't get a sales spike from his appearances anymore. It's generally crossover events that give titles a shot in the arm but after that they generally slide back down.
In fact the only title that has had a permanent (so far) shot in the arm from a crossover was Green Lantern Corps for DC.

Some titles get a sales spike from variant covers but usually dip back to usual numbers straight after. Case in point: the Obama variant of a recent issues of Amazing Spider-Man. Pulled in an extra 300,000 readers. The next issues sales numbers revealed that, apparently, not one of those extra 300,000 stayed around!

'Tis funny, but I think the alternate names detract from the humour because they sound like they're supposed to be jokes but aren't funny - unlike the main gag of the strip, which is superb - but the alternate names are too distracting and spoil the flow - just calling it as I see it! (I mean I'd have laughed more heartily with the names Primus and Unicron un-altered. Dunno why - maybe because I could have read it as taking place in mainstream continuity, which makes the ending more absurd - but not after the changed names have already established it's a spoof.)

To be honest I've toyed with the idea of changing the names to the normal ones. Quite often when I am writing the scripts the names are a curious mish mash of parody names and the proper names.
Perhaps a poll is in order.

Well only a few folks have voted but I can see how it will turn out. I've already re-lettered Death Wish and given the parody names are on the outs the title of the strip has had to be changed too.
Bye bye Tales of Scifibertron - long live Weird Without End.

Cheers!
It does read so much better with the proper names, so I bow to your judgement on that one. I'll be relettering the older ones during the week to sort the names out. Death Wish III is on Wednesday and as far as I can tell will be the last Death Wish, as the joke will be run into the ground by then. Again, all-new stuff. Then back to reruns for a little while longer yet.

Thanks Graham.
Thought it would be dull to recycle the same gag a third time, but I wanted a nice capper to the idea and that came to me in a moment of inspiration.
Cheers. I've been using Illustrator a lot for my art of late and getting to grips with it, hopefully to the point that soon enough it will look pretty much like my non-digital stuff.

Yes there is. Now if you want to write a jokey Cuddly Colin meets the Transformers during Trial of a Time Lord then I suggest you get cracking!
Now today's strip is how the GI Joe vs the Transformers crossover would actually go.
