The Intermezzo to I-Planetary V.2 was concieved with a couple of things in mind: .Due to the interactive nature of I-Planetary V.2, which featured multiple "players" writing the plot for their particular character, the story would often verge on the chaotic. This is, naturally, fun and creative, but it also leaves a lot of dangling plot threads. I love dangling plot threads because they beg for a resolution. Intermezzo is the "place" where I can go as a writer/photographer and resolve them. The stories in Intermezzo take place parallel with the stories in the consecutive chapters of I-Planetary. Anyways, here is the first of many Intermezzo tales! If you don't like it, I can't get away with blaming "other people" for writing the story; since it's all mine from start to finish One final note about this particular story: An apology to all Biblical Literalists out there! If you read this short story and think to yourself "hey - that sounds like the Bible...but then again it doesn't!" then the reason is simple: The initial quotes were taken verbatum from my edition of the bible in Polish. However, being a slob, I failed to note exactly which verses, which fragments, which books. They were not randomly selected, but nor were the painstakingly cited. In general, they are fragments of the Book of Apocalypse. When it came time to translate this story into english for the HUB - I simply translated from Polish into English; and the Polish itself was probably translated from ancient Greek - so discrepencies will no doubt abound! This first instalment of Intermezzo explores life on the post-apocalyptic Earth that we see in I-Planetary V.2.... dyrl

What's the green mecha from, Pete? I found a model kit that looks a lot like it under a desk while I was clearing stuff out. It's not quite finished but I think it's all there. Would you like it? I don't really have a use for it.

I think that is from "Fang of The Sun Dougram" as I recall. I think it is the Soltic RoundFacer.
Correct me if I'm wrong Pete. My "warbook" isn't so good for the Dougram and Votoms mecha.

The composition and "flatting" of this latest installment is brilliant! Well done!

Legioss is indeed correct- it is a Roundface. dyrl Ah, thats a relief. I wasn't entirely certain of my identification at the time, and didn't have an opportunity to check. Or for that matter to comment on the story. Having re-read it, that is quite a change in tone from the preceeding sections. A lot grimmer than the gonzo stuff we have seen previously. Not being a religious person myself I have no problems with the biblical quoting. (For that matter it has been part of the "background count" that has inspired some stuff I've written myself). Karl

Well, yes, it is grimmer. But contrary to what one might think, the grimmness was not a consequence of "oversaturation" with the gonzo-plot line of the former chapters... 9 Lives was actually concieved many moons before I-Planetary V.2 even began. The inspiration for the entire 9-part story was...the SV-51 Ivanov by Yamato I think that is sufficient inspiration for a Grim story. Anyways, when I finally got around to bringing 9 Lives to "life," I was in the midst of I-Planetary V2 and therefore decided to tie the two together and put 9 Lives in the same time-line. thanks for the feedback! dyrl

Until you mentioned it I hadn't seen anything partiularly dark about that. But I'm reevaluating it now....... I'd always seen Nora as the darker of the two "villian" leads - Ivanov was efficient, but Nora seemed to enjoy what she did far too much by comparison....and the globl civil war I'd generally seen as "clean" in general - mostly low-intensity conflict with brief bursts of high intensity conflict (but then, I supose - high and low intensity is a matter of perspective isn't it?) Ach, no worries. Karl

Well, hopefully by the time the SV-51 shows up in 9-Lives you will be convinced of its dark grimness dyrl

Uff...uff...uff... (out of breathe) Yes, it has been a while. But rest assured, I haven't stopped making photo-comics, I just had a period of "writers block" or, if you prefer "drawn out brain storming." The resulto f this long period - and it has been a long, long time, given that Graham's post was from...my my...Sept. 2008!... is as follows: I have been work on something called "Overview of Super Robots" which is now into its' second issue - although calling is a second "issue" is kind of pompous given its' low budget lackluster character... Nevertheless - the one feature which remains constant is the focus on figures and models as playing the main parts in the stories. Anyways - issue 2's comic portion needs to be translated into English, and then I'll post it on the HUB. In the meantime, you can sneak a peak at the comic on my website, and if any of you speak German, then maybe based on one line in the comic you can figure out what the rest is about In any event - there are some hopefull pretty pictures to see here: dyrl.pl/oferta.htmlEnglish version coming soon! EDIT: SCROLL DOWN (just in case you're wondering where the comic is ) Pete
