Two Transformers went into a bar. It wasn't near, it wasn't far. One was named Grim, the other named Star. Star said, "What's your other mode? Bet it's a car!"
Grim said, "Dumb 'Con, go to hell. And have you met my Pretender shell?" Star said, "I've got one as well. Where does it crack open? I bet you can't tell!"
Star said, "My shell's teeth are more white." Grim said, "My teeth have more bite." Star said, "They look blunt. That's not right." Grim transformed and gave him a fright. This led to ill feeling and they started to fight. It went on a while - it went on all night!
Who was the winner, and who would end up dead? I don't know. I got bored and went to bed Listening to Andy's audio CDs of Judge Dredd. Instead.

They were still at it when I got up the next day, Grim called Star a moron, Star called Grimmy something politically incorrect. Star punched Grim in the face. Grim cried, "Hey!" Grim kicked Star in the unmentionable way.
The Pretender shells were watching the ongoing melee. Star's shell said, "Star sucks,", Grim's said, "Grim's smelly." Star's shell shouted, "Go on, give it some welly!" Grim's shell said, "Sod this, let's leave them and go veg in front of the telly."
Which is what they did.

I did not expect to see an entry for this on rhyming week, I felt the hub's mighty sriveners would be a little to meek, To engage in fiction in the form of poetry, To see it done fills me with glee.

The giant heads looked on, When suddenly they felt forlorn. They had caught the virus of gurning, For the robots who battled this was stomach churning. "Stop watching us!" they cried, "Or our brains will end up fried!"
But on and on the gurning continued, And so much scenery was chewed! Until there was the onset of toothache, Which was sad as they had made spongecake.
But at this the robots were happy, They liked to fight and were not sappy! "At last, we shall go back to our War!" But through the pain the giant faces could only say "Cor!"

To Martin and Ralph I take off my hat. They gave us stories in verse that weren't pat.
The stories made me glad because they weren't half-bad.
I feel what you have done takes great courage for to think in rhyme it hits my brain like a barrage.
An idea for this story I do have I have in mind. But I fear it won't be as good as the rhyming kind. And in the queue, for want of free time it must wait one day to be written even if very late.

What I like most in this cover is that Starscream and Grimlock both resemble their Classic Pretender Toys...

Thanks. It was a minor niggle that bugged me in the comics. They should have used the modified versions of the Classic Pretenders when they appeared.

Agreed. The comic did the same thing with Powermaster Optimus Prime's smaller form - in Cosmic Carnival... Thankfully they corrected themselves later in the first segment of the "return of Megatron" arc where Pretender Grimlock and Starscream debuted... sadly - the Pretenders indeed did not get properly modified drawings These are very good - particularly Starscream Grimlock should maybe have some indication of his Dino-head on his back dyrl dyrl

He probably should but I didn't have the toy and the only photos online were of him from the front and to be honest fairly low res. Which is a shame!
