"Have'nt you got enough Spychangers?"  I wonder that too about the Korean toys. All I remember was saying something on the old Hub about hidden rubsignias on the Jap Spychangers and someone else replying about the Bot bros having them too. ===KEN |

I don't believe the car brothers had them, just the spychangers. The Car Bros 'gimmick' (if you can call them that) was that they had shiny faction symbols somewhere once you transformed them, but no marking in their car mode.
The Hasbro release had the logos tampoed everywhere though. I think I prefer the tampos, they look cool.

I must admit I prefer the Car Robots stuff, with hidden faction symbols in vehicle mode - I think it plays up the idea of them hiding in plain sight better than having big Autobot logos slathered all over them. It also works as a nice character definer for God Magnus as well - everyone is blending in and then he shows up with a blooming great Autobot logo embossed in shiny gold on his oversized cow-pusher thing, works with the unsubtle tone of his whole schtick.
I thought it was amusing that Hasbro renamed the line "Robots in disguise" and then proceeded to make them less well disguised.......

I'm in two minds about rub signs. On one hand I found them quite a fun gimmick on original TFs, but on the other, I want proper visible faction symbols on my figs! What's a boy to do?! I support me from the past. Rubsigns are cool, but I do like a visible faction symbol, particularly in robot mode. So, maybe have rubsigns somewhere in vehicle mode, but not as their main faction symbol in robot mode. It'd be great if, say, car-formers had them and only them in car mode, for example. |

Bring back rubsigns!! In fact, why don't MP figures have them? It's a travesty. Because the Sunbow cartoon never featured them. The Sunbow cartoon must be adhered to. The Sunbow cartoon must never be strayed from. We love the Sunbow cartoon. That said, they have been doing the "toy accurate" re-releases of recent MP molds, so who knows, maybe we'll get MP36++ with added rubsigns. Keeps the investment going... |
