Just Dandy, Thank You Very Much

I read that The Dandy is being relaunched later on this month. The makers are dropping the "Xtreme" subtitle and are seemingly returning to the roots of the comic. Perhaps they realised the 1990s are over?

I was never really a fan of The Beano or The Dandy when I was a kid. Though I did get Whizzer and Chips, and Whoppee! They had more toilet humour.

But it got me thinking. Imagine a Dandy/Beano-like comic featuring The Transformers! Each character gets their own one-page story that, each week, follows their adventures. It would be nice and colourful with content appropriate for all ages.

So if each Transformer got their own one-page story each week, what characters could be used, what would their strip be called and what kind of adventures would they have?

That sounds like a good move from DC Thompson. It seemed to me that the problems the comic was having which led to the Extreme makeover was that they over-modernised the comic. Meanwhile, The Beano remained more traditional and wasn't struggling as much.

Anyway, Rattrap would make a good comic strip. His misadventures and practical jokes would be very funny but ultimately end up getting him reprimanded by Optimus Primal.

Except they modernised because the traditional Dandy was struggling.

The new look Dandy is out today. Unfortunately, I didn't know until after I'd been to Smith's to pick up today's Lego. Hopefully it'll be in the Post Office later.
