Copied from the Announcements forum:
I got SW toys! I went mad a year or so ago and I've ended up with a rather respectable collection of 'bout 100 clone troopers, of various colours etc. Love the little fellas. Don't realy get them now, concentrate on TFs, but there's some I'd still like to, kinda, complete the little set. I'd love a Turbo Tank for them, they don't do one though do they? Oh I also got 'bout a dozen or so Jedis from eps 2 and 3 and, I think, 6 Darth Mauls -they're clones you see.

And I thought that my small special ops team of 8 - 9 Clone Troopers was a lot. Shockprowl - you have a fair chunk of the Grand Army of the Republic there. Finally got around to opening a new Star Wars related acquistion this weekend. A rare thing as I buy next to no Star Wars stuff these days - however when I learned their was a Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade two-pack doing the rounds I felt it was something I needed to acquire (and with the aid of Master Nick's Toy-Fu I was successful). Paint apps are a bit iffy in places on these -especially the eyes, which look distinctly scary. (Also Mara is ridiculously thin. I know she is supposed to be wiry but they have taken it to a somewhat undernourished extreme). For the moment they are on one of the living room shelves, sabres cross in the classic "sabre lock" pose. (Because of the way they have to be posed to actually stand it does appear that Luke is losing marginally in the press - appropriate enough given that my experience is that redheads are not prone to losing fights). Nice little toys to have in my very small Star Wars collection. Now, where's my Kyle Katarn/Jan Ors two-pack to go alongside them then? Karl

Shockprowl - have you seen the ATAP that's coming out ? www.rebelscum.com/story/euro/atap_walker_boxed_loose_photos_109583.asp and www.rebelscum.com/SWFD/hasbrovehicles/Following on from the eBay incident I've just bought a Y-Wing from TRU. Gold Squadron markings, a built in R5 unit (why did they remove the droid socket ?) purple clear plastic in the canopy. A pilot using the Dutch vander body and a new R5 unit. For £30 ?? ? ?? A steal. TRU is classic SW vehicle mad at the mo ! X-Wing, Y-Wing, Tie Fighter, Tie Interceptor, AT-AT Walker and Imperial Shuttle ! Spend £50 and get a free figure tin

I saw today the Star Wars Transformer Death Star is reduced to £30 in Argos. It looks tiny in the vastly oversized box it's been stuffed in. Does it no favours at all.

Wow! I'm liking that ATAP! Thanks for the link matey! One thing my Clone Army lacks is Hardware! Jings. And I thought that my small special ops team of 8 - 9 Clone Troopers was a lot. Shockprowl - you have a fair chunk of the Grand Army of the Republic there. Karl Thank you sir. I'm very proud of them. Need some Marines and Yellow Airbourne. Each Commandery type has his own little squad. They look great I love Clone Troopers. Blues are my faves I think. I've also got some more Death Star Troopers on my list as well as some Imperial Officers. I know they're from a different era, but they kinda go.

Kinda like some of the designs, but I'd much preffered it if the ships/vehicles transformed into robots, not representations of the character who operates the ship/vehicle. The Death Star just looks odd to me. They seem to be popular thought don't they?

It's a nice toy, and the tie also has the retooled cockpit with the film acurate back. My local TRU also had the Bantha pack down to £30 as well (forgot about this above) Wow! I'm liking that ATAP! Thanks for the link matey! One thing my Clone Army lacks is Hardware! I presume you've got ARC Fighters, Gunships, Speeders and Mini Walkers for them ?

Good topic of discussion, what do folkes think of the Star Wars Transformers? Bought the Vader, hated it. (see my review page) I expect what they turn into to look like the character in question !

Wow! I'm liking that ATAP! Thanks for the link matey! One thing my Clone Army lacks is Hardware! I presume you've got ARC Fighters, Gunships, Speeders and Mini Walkers for them ? NO! Can't afford! TFs eat my budget these days. I do have a coupla speeder bikes though, and I like my walkers bigger, Scout walker sized, and I use my 2 vintage Scouts with 'em. I would like a coupla gunships though one day! And my vintage AT-AT is missing most of its head, unfortunately, so I'll prob replace that if I every win the lottery. Going back to SW TFs, I actually find it weird they transform into the characters, 'cos the characters aren't robots and to me it'd make more sense for them to be transforming vehicles that the characters use, 'cos you get little character figs with them don't you? But each to their own of course. As yet, the only fig I remotely like in robot mode is Cody/Turbo Tank. The others always seem a bit arkward in robot mode to me. Esp the Obi/Mace mold.

I must admit I was quite tempted to get one of the gunships myself- it would have been appropriate to have the Huey for them (seeing as the Clone Troopers do seem quite attached to the Vietnam-era thinking). However, lack of space and money intervened. Hmmm, now you've set me thinking - I could dig out my old Vader and team him up with the Clone Troopers, with Mara lurking in the background. Now if I only had a spare shelf. As to the Star Wars Transformers I have to say I am not entirely sold on them. Transformable mecha don't really seem to have a place in the Star Wars setting for me. Sure they have elephant-like walking tanks and whatnot, but convertible mecha seems somehow out of place. And the fact that their humanoid forms look like their nominal pilots makes the seem a little absurd to me - after all not even Char Anzable (for all his penchant for screamingly red custom colour schemes) had his mecha restyled to look just like him. It kind of feels like it is taking it almost into the realms of parody. Karl

Play claimed they were mailing me my TAC Clone Trooper (which isn't out in the US yet)
I wasn't 100% surprised when it turned out to be a McQ Snowtrooper

Received a black uniformed Imperial officer the other day. Want a couple to finish off my Clones/Imperials collection. Ok fig, but plenty wrong with him. His knees don't bend. His elbows are stuck in a bend possition. And his hair wasn't painted for some reason. He's ok though.

Nothing wrong with no knees. it is a 2001 figure after all ! The hair is a variant, there's 3 different colours of hair on this figure.

I got Darth Malak and Darth Revan figures the other day. Not the greatest figures, but their existence is pleasing enough after years of Hasbro pretending they wouldn't sell.

Totally forgot to mention this on Saturday (I think- can't find any mention of it) but Toys'r'us Govan now has a complete T I E assortment with the Bomber finally showing up. It's in a significantly smaller box than the other two but it's still 29.99. -Nick

Phil- Star Wars is doing great business. Even the lambda shuttle is selling now that we dropped the price from the insane £79.99 to the slightly less insane £59.99. We can't fit enough X-wings onto the displays to meet demand. "Endor/Hoth Ultimate Battle Packs w ATSTs" you say. Are those the the ones like this or the Unleashed battle packs with a bunch of guys similar to the carded 4-packs? We get the Unleashed ones in quite regularly, and the assortments do change from time to time. Endor & Hoth, you say? -Nick

So: Hermie Odle - HUGE figure, soft goods robes. Like it though Mrs Toys thought it was silly even before she spotted what his head looks like. Han Solo with Torture Rack - figure could have been great. Spoilt by the lack of a waist joint - though there's one mid chest - and the smallest waist ever on a SW fig totally out of proportion with the figure. Great accesory though ! Lando in Smuggler Outfit - kitbashed to give a figure of Lando's end of ESB outfit. Wanted one for years 4-LOM - Lovely articulation on this. You need one Ewok 2-Pack Romba & Graak - how can you go wrong with 2 hyeavily articulated Ewoks ? A-Wing Pilot Tycho Celchu - It's Tycho ! Yeah ! Fab figure, all new bar maybe the helmet. Get it. R2D2 with cargo net - tis the inferior "vintage" sculpt again - where's my clean R2D2 using the R4G9 body ? The only advantage to this sculpt is the plug in tools - including the circular saw R2 uses to get out the net - and they left them out ! Clone Trooper - 7th Legion Trooper - remeber the colour variants on the Clone 3 packs ? This is the one which didn't get done last year. Can't go wrong with more clones. R2-B1 - flat grey for the dome. painted over the top of the lightpipe. Minus points. Rebel Vanguard Trooper - Black Rebel Fleet Trooper (good) using the Endor Trooper sculpt, and chuck in the bazooka from the droid battlefront set. My favorite of this load I think ! Naboo Soldier Red repaint of the SAGA2 figure Legends TC14 - at last my collection of Translator Droids is complete ! Expanded Universe: Comic Packs Wave 4 - Baron Fel & Derek "Hobbie" Klivian: Hobbie's the Dutch Vander mold back again with a new head (wearing the gear seen on the Snowspeeder pilots and a removable helmet) Fel has an odd Tie Pilot costume not seen in the comic with inexplicably no gloves. He's missing his signature Goatee but the removable Tie Pilot helmet and chest plate are great and can be used to TF last years superb Death Star Gunner into a TIE Pilot.
