I have looked out the window during the first ad break in Colditz this evening to discover that, as if it heard my request, the snow has arrived.
Hurray!

Awoke to find about an inch of snow. Been a very cold morning, but as I type, the sun is out and great big lumps of snow can be seen sliding from roofs.

Got caught in a mini blizzard while driving. So much fun. Before that spent a while throwing snowballs at my neighbours Lienburgers (probably not even close on the spelling) Its the first snow the younger one (Simba) has seen he kept trying to chase the snowballs and when they hit the ground he'd stick his head into the snow looking for them. Then he started catching them which he seemed to really enjoy. Elivis (the older) one just looked a bit puzzled as one landed on his head, but he is the dog Big Lebowski so that wasn't totally unexpected. Even Keg (the older Alpha Alsatian) seemed to be enjoying herself.
Snow is good. Now I need enouogh for a snowman.

No snow has fallen on Falkirk since the couple of hours that we had last night. What snow there has been has however remained in place all day instead of vanishing as I feared that it might.
I took off for Glasgow today in the hopes of getting most of the Christmas shopping done and finished. I managed to get about two-thirds of the way through before my mounting irritation with the growing crowds made me decide to abandon the unequal struggle and finish the operation tomorrow online. I headed back to the railway station only to discover that they had cancelled the next two trains back to Falkirk High. Some swift calcuations revealed that if I waited for train number three I woiuld get back to Falkirk High at about the same time that the slower, longer train to Falkirk Grahamston that departed in about five minutes would be arriving. So I jumped on that instead and had a longer, slower journey through the wilds of the Central Belt. It was worth it though - for one it was warmer than standing on Queen Street Station and for another it was a journey through a snow-covered landscape that was in many places devoid of signs of immediate human habitation so the scenery was great.
I have finished off the evening with a couple of glasses of wine and the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes film. I can think of worse ways to spend the latter half of the day - like being trapped in Glasgow waiting for them to sort out the Falkirk High trains...

Falling backwards down 3 or 4 stairs isn't fun. I was carrying a box with both hands and lost my balance. Never had a fall like that, quite shaken, and my back really isn't happy.

I'm up to about 8 inches here. And the snow is getting pretty deep too

Back hurts like anything, I'm stiffening up horribly and the three times I've had to climb the stairs since I've been scared to do it.

Yes get well soon Phil. From the sounds of things it could have been a lot worse but a bad back is always annoying.
I awoke this morning and took a long time to get out of bed. When I did, I discovered why - ice on the inside of the windows. Brrrrrr.

Walked back from Merrifield Towers last in a heavy snow. It was cold all night. I look out the window and the snow is heavy on the ground and thick flurries are falling. Thus, I must shortly go to the City Farm!

Woke to a frozen day but little additional snow, then went out to Asda and it poured down. I was out for abouttwo hours and by the time I was driving home the world was white. I barely got over 15mph and was sliding around a wee bit. Great fun.

Went for a walk in the snow, picked up some shopping and filmed some bits for the Star Dub Christmas episode. Been watching some of the new cartoons that aired on the Hub (puttup!).
This has been a good week. Other than an alcohol related mishap it's all been good. Starting to get into the job properly, caught up with some folk I hadn't seen for a while

As you may have read elsewhere Phil had an accident at church today too: Philip caught his wedding ring on the sound desk this morning, ripped it up his finger so the finger is swollen so much the ring has had to be removed while it still could be. Oh and there's now a chunk missing from the sound desk. It's odd wearing a ring on my right ring finger - I don't want to loose it (again)

It sounds like you have been in the wars a bit there Phil. Hope you heal soon.
I woke up this morning planning to go for a shorter version of my customary walk. One look at the heavy, and increasing, snow that was falling convinced me that this was a foolish idea. Instead I stayed in an finished my Henning Mankell novel whilst watching the snow fall and steadily accumulate.
I took advantage of a break in the weather later on to head into town to pick up my mother's birthday present. That done I originally planned to buy some picture frames for putting up some of my accumulating collection of animation cells. Given that the snow was beginning to fall I thought better of it. Instead I headed home, arriving just before the fall became heavy again. I spent most of this afternoon inside watching Doctor Who and Wolverine and The X-Men episodes before a very short walk this afternoon - short both because I was running out of light and because the amount of snow made it quite difficult to trudge across the untraversed (today at least) territory.
The fact that the swans and the ducks were sitting on the mooring pontoons as they were unable to swim on the frozen canal confirms that winter has well and truly come to Falkirk. I look forward to the journey through the frozen wastes to Edinburgh for work tomorrow. Definitely making sure I take coffee with me, just in case, I think.
