It's cold and wet outside. I have run out of butter. I need some to butter tomorrow's rolls for lunch. I have to go outside, having already been to the shops after work and completely failing to buy butter then.

The week has begun. It has not begun entirely well. It started alright, listening to "After, in the Dark/Torch Song" on the way to work (followed by "The Red Shoes" to kick me back into gear after pleasantly zoning out during the aforementioned track - always interesting to lose almost six minutes of the train journey completely, it is the next best thing to teleportation).
The day unfortunately deteriorated somewhat from there. I have a feeling that this could be another long week all told.

I am finding it very hard to relax of late. Plenty of watchables/listenables/readables/toyables but I seem to be spending most evenings just doing very little and then getting annoyed with myself for wasting my free time. I also have urges to spend money on other things of that ilk. I have no idea why, when I have a healthy backlog of fun stuff to get through so there is no pressing need! Very frustrating.
In other news, I do need to put some cash aside from November/December pay though. I'm straining a bit with my eyes and these frames are 3 years old now (and the spare pair long since died) so some new glasses are a priority in early 2011 I think.

Started putting up Tree # 2.
Nativity! arrived in the post and the latest addition to the Christmas DVD pile and the only non-US Festive movie at that.
Even though its another 6 months away til she uses it, I am going to assemble my daughters cot. On and off I am going to put the Moses basket inside as a kind of transitional thing.
I will be kissing the body clock goodbye real soon.

Disclosure came in so now I can start getting into the job properly now.
A mild dilemma is whether to meet up with some former work people on Friday night. I don't like to look back and the job ended badly but the people were ok. Not sure what to do yet.

If the people are Ok I don't see any harm.
In Dave-news there was, a few minutes ago, a knock at the door. As I am expecting some deliveries I rushed to open but there was just a man standing there. I cursed myself because he looked like he was going to try and sell me something. I was wrong.
'Julie?' 'wah?' 'Julie?' 'geh?' 'Ju..' (interupting) 'Julie?' 'Yes, I'm here to see Julie' '...' '...' 'There's no one called Julie here' 'What?' 'No one called Julie lives here' 'Well this was the address I was given'
It went on for a bit. I thought at one point he was going to demand to come in a check for himself, but eventually he left. I think he realised he'd got the wrong address but who knows maybe the police will arrive in a few minutes: 'We know you've got Julie in there!'

Sounds a bit odd.
It's like when people who dial a wrong number and when told the person is not there demand to speak to them.

That's happened to me a couple of times, but on one occasion this person rang my house first pretending to be someone who got a parcel for me at his address by accident. The same guy turned up on my driveway a couple of days later as I am coming home from uni accusing me of an indescretion involving his girlfriend. That... Was embarasing to say the least... The guy was in a state and made a prat of himself screaming obscenities at me. This however this did get resolved, but it could have got a lot worse. Not the kind of thing you come home to everyday. ===KEN

No more visitors at the door, but that includes anyone bearing parcels. I'm off out in a few hours so if nothing arrives, I hope they actually arrive late tomorrow otherwise I'll have to collect in town - and the post office is not good for my mood.

I had an old lady (or what sounded like an old lady) call me on my house phone one time, asking to speak to her friend. You can imagine how the conversation went. Eventually she accused me of being in her friend's house and got quiet angry with me!
I took her down hard, Man!

Process of fitting the new flooring has begun. It's a, er, hard wood effect stuff thing. Should be great to have battles on! Easy to stand figs up on! ('Tis why I chose it!)

It has been an extremely hectic and stressful week this week. Between one thing and another I have been pretty worn down by work. I am thoroughly looking forward to the end of the week. I think tomorrow evening will be all about sitting down with some cartoons and a quiet drink to try and unwind a bit.

Off work today with a dreadful chest infection, loads to do. Laptop screen went all green and pixelated last night so it's off to HP for repairs until the 10th I just hope my backups on the external hard drive work ok. Put back on a deadline for part of my PhD now - quite stressed as I have until mid Jan to get another 12K words done so booked 2 weeks off work for dec and jan. But mini-lawton is *touch wood* healthy and a boy.

John, I am deeply jealous. So far the nearest snowfall to hear is about ten miles away on the other side of the valley. I can see it, but it is far too far away to touch. The weather forecasts I have seen suggest nothing more than a burst of sleet around midnight tonight.
Where is my snow darn it?

Get well/rested (delete as applicable) various Ayres.
I've not had any snow but it has been very cold. Much of yesterday was spent waiting around at train stations in the cold - even the rooms had a draft from somewhere.
Spent the morning in my role of family IT guy, sorting some things out then returned home to find no missed deliveries. Not having to go to the post office is good but now I'm thinking things have been lost in the post. But as I didn't want anything delivered whilst I was away I'm refusing to grumble to myself about it until tomorrow.
