Its good, not nearly as terrible as I feared, but it's just a bit boring, so far at least.

Actually really quite good!
The plot does feel like it's going through the motions... But forgivable seeing as it's pilot.
But excellent voice acting and the Autobots are each good characters. Plus a bit of wit as well!
I can't really comment on the picture because, well, it's YouTube.
I can see me getting the blu ray further down the line. It is broadcast in HD, I think.

I felt the first episodes were solid enough - any show will take time to find its feet so I can't judge too harshly. Loved the designs and how colourful it was throughout - I was worried they would be going down a different path. The animation seemed very stiff, sloppy in places - but the fight scenes were paced well enough. It felt a lot like Beast Wars, which may have been intentional. Not just because it's 3D Animation, but it has a certain character to it.
It's all very standard stuff for a first episode of a new Transformers show. It would seem that Arcee is the worst covert agent of all time though. I'll give this another look when the next episode is upon us.

I quite enjoyed it. Most of the cast are closer to Animated in personailty terms than movie which helps. Animation is a bit mixed but at least they are trying unlike Energon and Cybertrons animation. Not a bad set up, either as a movie sequel series or just a new stand alone show. but poor Cliffjumper. Has any other Transformer been given such brutal treatment on screen before? |

It's a lot darker and more epic than I was expecting! Plot-wise, it's fine and I'm engaged, and the Decepticons, Cliffjumper and Arcee are all standouts. And I love Fowler, who's like Galloway after going to the gym and having a few. It's not quite doing it for me though: half the rumour falls flat, the Autobots (outside of Arcee and Cliff) don't really feel like mates, and the humans are a bit crap. I like that the show is blunt about how stupid it'd be to get children involved in the war - take that, genre! - but they're too superflous, they're just taking up space and contributing nothing. It makes me wonder why they're in the show at all! Props for Cliffjumper's extremely brutal treatment, which came as a great surprise. I didn't think the death was going to stick - he's a lead character! - but I didn't expect that. God, now I'm unsure if he really is a lead and this wasn't all just some misdirection to mess with us...[/spoil] |

Where did you watch it Gav? I have yet to find it on any torrent site. I watched it on Youtube, and it was surprisingly good quality. Sound was very clear. Again, it's a brand new show - for kids; I'm not expecting the world, so I'll keep on top of it until it bores me or fuels me with a desire to own them all in plastic form. Spoiler related chat: Yeah poor Cliff, eh? Hopefully they'll make more of the zombie aspect, it could open up a few possibilities. [/spoil]

I've finally slogged through it. Nothing terrible but nothing great either. It seems really by-the-numbers, almost as if it was a contractual obligation than a series with any real creative spark behind it.
Very meh. But then, the pilot of Beast Wars was actively awful, so who knows what the future will hold.

Just saw the first episode. Nothing amazing, but some nice touches and I think Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet is going to be best of the Autobots in terms of dialogue and character.

Watched number 1. It looks a bit cheap, but the story seemed okay, and I'm sure it's giving Hasbro exactly what they want. I'm really sick of Cullen's new Prime voice, though. Don't like it the movies and I hated it in this. Can't he just do it the way I remember? (complete idiot fan comment. But it's true).

Watched the second episode. It looked quite a bit better than the first IMO and was half decent overall. If you have to make a show based on the Bayverse this is probably the way to do it.

I quite enjoyed it! Very much the Movie universe but with the puerile humour removed, right down to the style of score. Whether it has legs I'm not too sure but it works ok as the first 2 chunks of a TV special. Ratchet steals the show.
Sucks balls to be Cliffjumper, eh?

The designs work really well, a much more streamlined take on the Movie designs. Ratchet does indeed steal the show. A curious amalgam of his Movie/IDW/animated personalities which works really well. Poor Cliffjumper indeed. Andy |

Mass-Shifting returns, perhaps? Arcee and Bulkhead are possibly larger than what thier alt-modes would fold out to.
Raph is also the only useful one out of the humans. Bumblebee's translator and Ratchet's Earth-tech support.

Its still a stretch but at least theres almost logic behind Raph been able to use the computers unlike all the other humans who have been able to pick up Autobot computers and use them like pro.
The Arcee size shift is the most blatant I can remember. It did occur while watching that they could have partially avoided the problem a little if the holographic rider had actually been a part of her form so that it turned into her arms or something.
I'd like to see this applied to at least one bike at some point in the future.

I actually saw Arcee growing slowly when she transformed behind Jack in that Alleyway, so Mass Shifting has definitely been used

I really enjoyed it, and I agree that it is slightly reminiscent of Beast Wars in both look and story. It seems to me that there may be a storyline set up going on with Raph being the only human able to understand Bumblebee.

The plot and characters seem like some mad-lib attempt at smashing every previous TF series together and hoping for the best. That sounds more critical than I intend, maybe- it was still fun. So... are we all assuming Cliffjumper is dead? He showed no signs of being killable after his dark energon exposure, and that huge energon mine exposure might have reacted with it in some as yet unknown way. Basically, like the rhino-men in Dr Who I think his animation model is too complex for him to have been killed off so quickly and finally.
So... all the dark energon in creation recombining into Unicron. Whaddya think? First or second season ender? -Nick |

Hmmm. Not as bad I was expecting by any means. The animation is not at all to my taste aesthetically but I didn't think that the writing was too bad.
I did like the fact that there is no "hey, human kids, come and have exciting adventures with the space robots" moment - treating them as baggage and a problem to be dealt with is a good move in my opinion. (Although I am sure we will have the obligatory subplot with Arcee helping one of them, intentionally or not, get more confident at talking to girls). Ratchet is the standout for me here, very similar in his grumpiness to the TF:Animated version. Quite liking the way this Starscream is shaping up too - less the "I will loudly announce how I will betray Megatron and wonder why he slaps me upside the head every time" and more a 'bot who has been running his own show for a while and has started to get a taste for not having to report to anyone.
Not off to a terrible start really on the basis of the first two episodes.
