I think its just as likely its been planned, a lot of US shows don't come back until February after their Christmas breaks.
I'm not sure how many epsidoes are in season 1, but it could also be about when it ends in relation to the movie release.
Then again it could be late animation, but with cg once the early episodes and all the modelling are done, everything else should run quite speedily.

Thats not to bad really. The opening story is 5 episodes isn't it? That brings it up to Christmas and then its just off for January. I believe the opening story is playing daily though.

It is indeed, which is why the long gap before episode 6 is baffling for a hyped new show. Unless it just isn't finished.

I would so laugh if they recast Optimus and Megatron with new actors for some reason after the pilot story lol

I didn't realise that, but I don't think it makes a huge difference, the mini is played around thanksgiving to build interest, but if the mini is a self contained story, theres no point then showing a handful of episodes before Christmas and then taking it off air for a weeks. Particularly if the series proves to have a strong ongoing story arc. Better to wait till the new year and show then continuously. But as I have no idea about anything to do with Prime I could be completely wrong. Andy

Based partly upon my love of the what I've seen of Animated (mainly from the final season) and a poor review of Topless Robot I was expecting to dislike Prime but I have to confess I quite enjoyed it. The early character death was a surprise (though who knows how long it will last?), I was pleasantly surprised by how uncharacteristically effective the Decepti-Clones were (again, for now) and Starscream, Arcee and Ratchet were used particularly well.

Didn't Beast Wars have its pilot episodes air in April with the rest of season 1 in September in 1996 in the US?

Wow episode 3 skips t othe sort of plot I'd have expected a full season build up for. I'm now quite curious as to if this mini series will have something of a reset button at the end, if not its building up to be quite a dark ongoing series.

I thought episode 3 was pretty poor. Megatron's plan is boring, Miko is intensely annoying, there was no reason to care about Agent Fowler and the Autobots appear to have lost their brains between episodes. Also looks like the animation budget has been blown already: texturing was awful. Oh dear. Hopefully an early blip. -Ralph

I desperately want to download a decent copy so I can get a look at the animation and rendering properly.
The kids were the only thing that really annoyed me. I really liked the idea the Raph as a kid thats grown up with windows would know how to fix an annoying pop up for the autobots, but now hes hacking federal databases and its just the same old child genius rubbish.

Picked up again in episode 4. Watchable nonsense, and nice to see an attempt to show a TF battle from a human's point of view (with good use of sound). Though, Ratchet, Bulkhead and Starscream aside the show is suffering from a dearth of characters I give a toss about. The animation is pap though the direction is fine.
Miko, however, is killing my enjoyment of the show in exactly the same way that Bumblebee killed my interest in Animated.

The battle that Prime and Ratchet fought was straight out of the pages of the G2 comic. I loved it. The animation is a bit meh, though the lighting and colour palette on the Decepticon ship was very nice indeed.
I agree about Miko she is really annoying.
Ratchet is still the star though. Some shades of Furman's Marvel Prime in the dialogue.

Watching episode 5. Best so far. Sweeps!
Bulkhead's got his wreckin' ball!!!
Raph being useful as ever
Soundwave still being a glorified parrot.
AWESOME fight between Prime and Megs. This should have been atop of Sherman Dam.

Overall all I enjoyed it, they did in the end hit the reset button by the end which was a little bit disappointing, but hardly unexpected. The Good: The animation, still can't really tell how good it really is with youtube and a lot of it is pretty generic animate by numbers but there are just the odd bits when I get a little bit impressed by it. Kind of like that poor guy (gal, guys/gals) who seemed to be really trying to inject some animation during the early episodes of Armada.
Ratchet
Raph and Jacks? response to being caught in the middle of the battle during episode 4. For the first half of it I was hating how they all appeared to be having a blast, but once they got left in the room on the ship they finally started to feel like real people in a really bad situation.
The Bad: Mika: I get the giant alien robots how cool, I want ot be a part of it thing, but she spends the whole of part four putting everyones lives in danger but even when shes confronted with that fact she still thinks its all one big laugh. No matter how cool giant robots are when they start shooting at you and trying to squash you it has to be terrifying especially when your playing the entire scene from the human point of view. I know its a kids adventure show, but this was just so wrong it ruined every second she was on screen, even as a kid I hated seeing this kind of thing is shows.
Raphs computer skills. Yeah kids are good on computers yeah we all read the stories about teenagers hacking into goverment systems or whatever, but not when they are 12. Theres probably kids out there at 12 who can do it but the odds of just happening to be playing with his remote control car and getting caught in the middle of a Transformers fight has got to be pretty slim. The other two kids have a more normal sort of skillset so they just happen to be the ones caught in the middle but stumbling upon Raph just stretches my suspension of disbelief to breaking point. Then again Chips IT skills never fazed me as a kid to so maybe I'm old and grumpy. Or maybe it was that he was several years older.
Megatron: Congratulations writing team for once again making Megatron so powerful he has to be removed from action for as much time as possible and can only be fought by Prime and then Prime will still lose a straight fight, that crazy over powered type of Character doesn't in anyway limit storytelling options does it. Especially not when its the third time in 3 years a new timeline has gone that route.
Go back to G1 and Megatron (and Prime) they were tough and probably generally shown as the strongest individuals in any given fight but both could be beaten by other characters. This more than anything bugs me because frankly I'm interested in a character that reaches Megatrons position without being the toughest.
Paraphrasing and quoting: The light our darkest hour line was pretty funny, but then they do the one shall stand and then paraphrase primes speech from the end of the movie, just too much.

I had some vague awareness a new show was in the works but I didn't realise this was due out just yet. Anyway I watched the opening 5-parter and it was OKish I suppose. The genius kid quickly got annoying and Miko sometimes annoyed too (for reasons others have already mentioned). Quite like Starscream but found the rest of the Decepticons--comprising of a mute army and mute Soundwave with mute Laserbeak (I presume)--forgettable. I like Megatron's voice though. Autobot-wise Prime is an annoying dullard and Bumblebee is pointless. Ratchet seems the most interesting and Bulkhead was fairly amusing. Intitially Arcee seemed OK too but became less interesting... ...after CliffJumper's death Whatever the reasons, it seems daft to have this opener across two weeks and then have to wait until February for episode 6. I will watch it when it turns up but I can see me loosing interest after a few episodes. Presumably Megatron will return for the season finale

I enjoyed it well enough - as much as a 28 year old man should enjoy a television show aimed at a brand new viewership comprised of children. I'll keep watching, as it's quite fun to stick on an episode now and then. No point in nit-picking logic in Transformers anyway eh? Haha.

Having now seen episode 5 it was generally an enjoyable tosh mini-series. It only lets itself down by setting up a pretty dull premise for an ongoing show. But overall, this was ok for what it was and had some fun elements to it. I'd probably pick up a DVD of it should one appear.

I think it's a good kids' cartoon. The action sequences are generally very good: the one from the humans' perspective in episode 4 was particularly impressive. I find it hard to believe that many boys aged between 8 and about 13 will think it anything other than brilliant.

I think one of the things that this has going for it is competent direction. Although I don't like the art style or the look at all - I think it lacks character and looks somewhat generic - there is a nice eye for composition and for handling a scene that more than makes up for it. The action scenes are very nicely handled, with a nice mix of gunplay and melee to keep things interested.
Ratchet remains the grouchy, sarcastic, stand-out character of the lot as far as I am concerned, but the writing on everyone is reasonably good.
I'm not quite sure what they are planning on doing with that setup on a weekly basis - it doesn't seem to have the obvious hooks for future stories built into it in quite the same way as Gi Joe:Renegades but the opening episodes stand pretty well on their own and are pretty entertaining (certainly more so than the second live action movie).
(There is just one thing. I can't hear the term Dark Energon without wanting to burst out laughing. After all, it sounds as if it is equivalent to saying Evil Electricity, and I just can't take it seriously).

Well at least you'll be dry. Without spoiling anything, Transformers Prime has loads of potential but at the moment that's about all. When the series kicks in, I hope the creative team offers a little bit more complexity to the overall story. From the beginning, I didn't feel this way about Transformers: TAS. I don't know.

After watching all 5 episodes, I still don't know if I actually like the show or just watching it because it is a TF series.
I have never been a fan of CGI for tv series, so that probably doesn't help my undecided mind.
Does anyone else find it weird that a TF show doesn't have an intro with some variation of the same theme tune we have heard for 25 years?

Not really, given that Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, Beast Machines Car Robots, Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Superlink, Galaxy Force, Micron Legend all had different main themes - some of which weren't even in the same musical genre as the others. By that measure the Prime main title pretty much fits with the rest of the show - being a variation on the general musical tone of the first movie. At least, that is the way I see it. Karl

The show is quite lonely in places, especially the ghost town like civillian scenes. I know more cgi models are costly, but some background extras could fix that.

I look at this show and think this is how the Movie universe should have been from the start - minus the adult themes, Michael Bay and more human presence.
