The kinky of the spoof has passed away at the age of 84.
I actually shouted Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo when I read this very sad news. The man was a comedy god.

RIP Sgt. Buck Frobisher. Time to dig out the train episode of Due South.

No way! I didn't know he was that old. Shame.
At least he's left a legacy of cool movies to remember him by. I have a sudden urge to watch Police Squad too.

I was watching his first Due South appearance a few weeks ago and it reminded me just what a genius he was.
To repeat Ralph, Damn.

Just yesterday in Asda I was considering buying a boxset for £12 which has all three naked guns, police squad, airplane and some other film. So it was shocking that I read about this tragic news when I awoke.

I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.
Saddened to find out this morning when I was out and about.

Meant most affectionately:
"We're sorry to bother you at such a time like this, Mrs Nielsen. We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then."
"That's no way for a man to die." "No... you're right, Ed. A parachute not opening... that's a way to die. Getting caught in the gears of a combine... having your nuts bit off by a Laplander, that's the way I wanna go!"
Rest in peace!

I had to buy that boxset... Feeling low and needed cheering up. Definitley worth for the Police Squad eps alone. We've recentley lost Bernard Matthews too. Though he died on Thanksgiving day. The irony!

Oh No! Reading it here is the first I've heard!
What an absolute utter utter freaking unbelievable LEGEND he was. Made me laugh hysterically a million times over the years. God bless him, and thankyou.

The irony! As mentioned on the Child of the 80s obit: www.childofthe1980s.com/2010/11/29/bernard-matthews-1930-2010/I know Mr Sean writes these in advance so I expect he'll catch up with Irving Kirschner and Lesley Nielson later.

Leslie Nielsen may be more known for his comedy work these days, but he was involved in one of the foundational works of SF/Sci-Fi cinema, being the lead in Forbidden Planet.
He was an actor with a lot of charm and range. It is a great loss.

I got mine just before Christmas. Though it looks like a Neilson boxset, it is basically more a tribute to the Airplane/Naked Gun team. There are 6 DVDs in there, all Nielsen films except for some early Val Kilmer movie thrown in there as an odd one out. An enjoyable set though and worth Police Squad alone. ===KEN
