Tinks loves the snow and spends a lot of time running and rolling about in it, then comes in when she gets too cold to curl up in front of a radiator. Should be working at the moment but got a call shortly before I was due to leave telling me to leave it for a few hours.
In other news, the house sale has hit a snag due to a burst water pipe.

Enjoyed my last takeaway for a while as I continue to make adjustments to the diet. I haven't enjoyed having to go up a size in t-shirts, etc.
Coldest day yet today, though despite cloud cover no snow as yet. The pavements have become ice-rinks, alas.

Rota day off as I am working tomorrow. Had to break in new boots today - lots of cuts to the heels. Lazy day so far - just about to draw two Daily Straxus strips and the back cover of the comic. You will all squee for it.

It is raining outside!
Getting very chilly in the livingroom, so time to retreat to the bedroom.

Bloody hell you guys are having crazy snow over there. Winter temps hit quickly here this week, and it'll stay below zero celcius for at least the next week. Supposed to snow tomorrow, but we won't get anything like what you guys are having, thank God.
Work is busy as ever and I'm both stressed with keeping up and impressing the boss that I was worth the hire. I've yet to convince my paranoid mind that I'll be here for a while at least. Nagging lack of self confidence doesn't help.
My recently fired-from-my-old-job friend is hanging in there by her fingertips. I hope to have a bit of spare cash to send her closer to Christmas to help with bills. Hoping she can pick up a post doc in January - remains to be seen though.

The travel chaos continues here as frosty nights mean that the snow turns neatly to ice on everything. At the moment of the three routes out of Falkirk by rail two of them have been deemed closed completely and their are no services running at all. The other is theoretically running a reduced service, but given that they are warning that even this is subject to cancellation at the drop of a hat - and that it is currently listing no services at all on the National Rail Enquiries website departure boards - it is questionable whether that route could be considered to be technically open.
It is possible to move about in Falkirk, just not necessarily possible to actually leave or enter the town...... (somthing that I am sure some people would call only right and just....).
Fortunately I have no urgent need to go anywhere for supplies, as I have plenty of the basics stockpiled and a well-stocked freezer. The furthest I have been is a walk this morning up to the Falkirk Wheel to see what conditions up there were like. It was rather picturesque, with the canal frozen from bank to bank and covered in snow. The woods around the Wheel are cris-crossed with what appear to be deer and rabbit tracks but very few human tracks. Exercised my new digital camera taking some shots of the trees that were bent double over the paths like arches by the weight of snow (it turns out that David Bailey I am not).
We have a mild thaw here at the moment, judging by the drips of water falling on me when I went out the back door this afternoon. Hopefully it will continue to thaw enough that I will actually stand a reasonable chance of getting out of Falkirk come Monday when I have to go back to work....

Snow is melting fast here, making pavements into ice-rinks.
Blood donation centre was pleasantly busy. Had a pub lunch afterwards, made a video and read some comics. Huzzah.

I'll be giving blood a week on Monday, all being well. Today I did shopping, had a pub lunch, watched Star Trek III on Film4 whilst writing my Christmas cards, and enjoyed the latest Star Dub video on YouTube. Think I'll use the iPlayer now to listen to the first episode of the new radio serialisation of 'I, Claudius', having recently finished the book. Episode 1 only remains up until tomorrow, folks. In contrast to the TV series, in this version Derek Jacobi plays Augustus. Later... the last episode (for now) of Merlin. And some reading. With wine. And hot tomato soup with fresh bread. Stay warm, folks. Martin PS For Brian Blessed fans, there's ten minutes devoted to him in this week's episode of QI.

Cheers for the heads up on radio I, Claudius Martin! It's been repeated so it's now up until the 11th. I must give episode 1 a whirl tomorrow evening.
The good weekend continued. Saw Rare Exports (film of the year), enjoyed some banter.
Slightly regretting not having booked any leave over the festive season but, eh, not a hardship.
Now to do some tidying up and catch up on some podcasts.

Had a nice quiet day today. Did the last of the Christmas shopping for my family. Always a pleasure to get that out of the way. Went for a very short walk in the afternoon to stretch my legs and got some of the Christmas cards sorted out and ready to go into the post - another job I can cross off my list.
Planning a quick bout of video gaming, followed up with some audio drama for this evening, once I have organised myself for going back to work tomorrow.

Picked up a couple of Chrimbo pressies, but I plan to finish that off next week. I have a route planned which should get it all done in 1 hour. I'll jump out early doors next Saturday morning and just get it done. I am not a fan of shops at this time of year. Massive respect for those who work in retail though. I don't have the patience for it!

Oh indeed. Those folk working retail this time of year have my absolute sympathies, I wouldn't want to do their job at all.
I always try to have the present shopping completed by early December, because the deeper one gets into December the more hideous the shops become. Other than the occassional perishable goods or anything essential that I run out of I plan on spending little to no time in shops between now and the 29th.
