"I'm not stupid" she says, "I know the law".
She needs cleansing from the gene pool.
Snow Glorious snow!!! Hello Sportsfans. Shockprowl had to turn back yesterday evening from attempting to get to where he usual does his work of saving lives and breaking hearts. Had to walk to my local Amb station. It was snooooowwwyyyy! Very dodgy indeed. Thought I'd have to abandon my car at one point! It wa'nt going no place! But then, mercifully, I found a slither of grip, and I was saved!!!
After school, me and Piglet built a snowman in the garden! He has slightly deformed twig arms thanks to the young miss Cook, but what the hey!
Be safe out there, dudes.

It's been raining for a few hours but it's still cold, so I expect an ice-rink tomorrow.
The buses were screwed so I had fun slipping in the slush on the way home from work.

We have large amounts of lying snow here, and it made for an interesting start to the day. My attempt to get to work was largely abortive so I ended up back at home by lunchtime. I would have gone for a walk or something but as the snow was up nearly to the top of my boots in some places I decided that this was probably unwise.
So instead I stayed in and watched some DVD's and did some reading. I shall have a look at the weather out there tomorrow and check on the transport before deciding whether I am going to sally forth to once more attempt the journey through to Planet Edinburgh.

Sorted Christmas work for myself which is a nice bonus Asda here I come, with just about as much overtime as anyone could ever want. Between that and 3 months of solid ebaying my finances are feeling a little better for the first time in ages.
I made two mini snowmen on top of my brothers car after some basketsnowball.

Sent home early due to the snow, so made use of the time with drawing the second of the four exclusive Daily Straxus strips.

Gah. A failed attempt to get from Edinburgh to Glasgow this morning. And then a long long wait to get a refund on my ticket. Did get as far as physically sitting on a seat on the train but we never left the platform!
Will try again next week. *Readies space-bridge*

Much sledging with Piglet. Snow very fluffy though, not good for snowman building! More tonight apparently. Eeeek!

Apparently, it is St Andrews Day, but generally we don't give a toss about it in Scotland.

Will try again next week. *Readies space-bridge* You might be better off using a drilled wormhole method at that. I was coming back from work on that route this evening. I had arrived at work in only ten minutes longer than usual but the journey back to Falkirk this evening took twice as long as normal (sixty minutes instead of twenty-five). Traveling is possible here but is very definitely not guaranteed, and requires a certain amount of patience. Mind you, my mother informs me that Surrey has had eight inches of snow fall over the course of today, so I think that they are doing that little bit worse than we are at the moment. I did see a deer from the train this morning, it was lingering in a field not far from the airport clearly having been forced down close to people by the blanket of snow covering the normal food sources. Decided to take a walk to the post office only for the snow to begin again. It was blowing straight into my face the entire way, thetrudging also started my ankle hurting again even so it was nice as always to wander through the whiteness.

Fell poorly today and had to go to bed. I think it was the paint-thinner I was using to clean up an accident that did it.

Took Mum to work (otherwise she planned to walk the 2 or 3 miles) Getting there wasn't to bad but as there was nowhere I felt confident attempting to turn I took a longer route back, by the time I arrived back home the snow was coming down so heavy it was like driving through thick fog.
All but the main roads are now about 4-6 inches of snow sat on top of another 2-3 inches of ice and compacted snow.

Came back early from work today, taking a day's leave, as I was concerned about my prospects of getting back if the weather continued to deteriorate. Glad that I did as the weather has deteriorated considerably and there is a awful lot of snow falling at the moment. I think it might be time to put the heating on, throw a blanket over me and take a phlegmatic approach to winter.

My shoes have not stood up well to the snow. Pair 1 was soaked right through on Monday and pairs 2 and 3 have similarly fallen. As my job involves being out and about, I decided I needed some winter boots ASAP so popped out at lunchtime with the aim of 'must get boots no matter the cost'. Picked up a pair for £25 (much cheaper than I expected, so a nice bonus there) which were extensively field tested this afternoon when I walked through a snowstorm. They stand up well to battle conditions!

I have been extremely pleased with my wellington boots this winter. They have cope admirably in terms of keeping my feet dry, providing traction and allowing me to move in some fairly dicey conditions. They have really only admitted defeat today when I encountered snow in excess of the height of the boots - and I can't really blame them in that case.
They also make a nice solid clicking sound when I am walking on the few clear pieces of tarmac left in this part of Scotland.

Out a lot in heavy snowfalls today, but I did not mind as it was for my job and there was a purpose to it. The new boots make life so much easier too.

I threw on my insulated winter boots. Truely wonderful footwear. Of course I put them on for what turned out to be a completely wasted journey. I walked into the city contre to go to job centre to find my appointment had been concelled, I suppose that wasn't totally unexpected, but I'd also wanted to speak to someone in person about going back to work and the variables, instead I was given a phone number. Besides the wasted journey what annoyed me was that the building appeared well staffed and with no appointments was there really no one I could have spoken too instead of a phonecall that I think I'm charged for?
Still the snow was very nice and after been off my feet for so long because of the sprained ankle I needed the excercise.
Snow appears to be running out a bit, but conditions are worse. My brother had to spend 20 minutes digging in order to park his car when he got home.

I got to the station this morning to catch a train in to work to discover that there was rather a lot of "cancelled" listed on the monitors.... I hung around for a while trying to work out when the next train was - the next non-cancelled service appeared to be 11:22 (this was as at 08:35). Then they made an announcement that gave me both hope and concern. On the one hand they were running a special service from Stirling to Edinburgh that would be arriving shortly. On the other hand the weather conditions were deteriorating and no services had left Edinburgh going to either of the Falkirk stations that morning (so, from about 05:30 until that point in time) and that there was no indication of when anything would.
After a bit of consideration I decided that I would have to be crazy to try and get into Edinburgh under those circumstances, so I phoned my office - who were very understanding in the circumstances and explained that I was taking a days leave as I wasn't convinced I would be able to get home if I got there. Apparently it was already snowing fairly hard there and the forecast was for a further four to six inches of lying snow, on top of the umpteen inches we already have.
Like any sane and sensible person I then packed it in and headed home to drink coffee, do some housework and watch cartoons. I was planning to make a further attempt to get to Edinburgh tomorrow morning but our Director advised me this afternoon that a decision has been taken that the office is going to be closed tomorrow. Now that I know that I think I might just plan on going back to bed with a hot drink tomorrow morning.
So I finished off the afternoon, before the light faded by heading out to see the Swans and ducks on the canal - who have collected together not far from my house as it is about the only bit of canal still unfrozen. I don't think they've ever made me as welcome as they did when they realized I had some food on me that I was willing to share...

The snow has come down hard again. Undisturbed snow is now approaching 2 feet in places. Trees are as thickly covered in snow as they are with leaves in the summer. Its madness.

Grace the cat is a foul-weather friend. As soon as the snow appears (and it's only a light dusting in Cardiff, though it's been on the ground for a week now), there she is whenever I get home from work, nipping past me as I open my front door in search of a place by a radiator.
(Grace the cat supposedly belongs to the people three doors down, but has a number of houses that she calls her own.)

Sensible cat.
Snow has now covered the ice on the local canal. It is now difficult to tell where the ice ends and the bank begins!
I plan on a quiet night in. Scot Blood's website mentiones they are gaving problems getting donors in this weather so I plan to nip down tomorrow morning to see if they are open.
