My copy arrived this morning. First impression, upon seeing the size of the package: it's slim compared to the Marvel, DC and Star Wars Vaults. Second impression, upon looking through it: there's an impressive amount of unseen and rare items included, from a wide array of sources; it seems to cover a lot of ground, if only briefly. But, the number of artefacts is disappointingly low. Comparison with the Star Wars Vault (I don't have the Marvel, Dc or Batman books). Pages: Star Wars 128, Transformers 160. Artefacts: Star Wars 46, Transformers 8. CDs: Star Wars 2, Transformers 0. Size: Star Wars 33.8x28.8x4.3cm, Transformers 28.3x24.8x2.6cm. I'm surprised that the Transformers book has so many more pages when the Star Wars book is about 50% thicker, which illustrates the difference in artefacts. It's worth noting that the Transformers and Star Wars books are from different publishers; the Marvel, DC and Batman books are from another publisher again. Third impression to follow once I've actually read it.

Mine has shown up this morning as well whilst I was mooching about. (The PostHeimStatsPoliz wole me from a light doze on the sofa with their Ring-Ring-Ring-Thud-Thud-Thud routine). First impressions from a skim through and a skim read of some of the text are that it is pretty much what I expected of it - a glossy coffee-table piece that skims over the very surface level of the subject matter in the way that these things do. It is very nicely produced too.

I have mine.
It will function as a tray to perch my laptop on so as not to burn my knees. Very useful.

The more I look at this the less impressed I am in all honesty. Having had a better look at the actual layout of the book I am less pleased with the general presentation. Although at first flip through it looked well produced a slightly less cursory look reveals that the layout is not as good as immediately meets the eye. The text remains pretty much what I expected, but I had very low expectations in that department anyway (In the interest of full disclosure I will say that I have not had any exposure to any of the other "vaults" So I wasn't expecting much other than the usual US coffee-table book level).
The selection of visual material isn't actually terribly good either. There really isn't much that stands out as impressive or beyond the sort of thing that has been floating around for ages.
I hereby retract my original lukewarm rating of mediocre and reappraise it as sub-mediocre.

If you do not want to know the plot of DARK OF THE MOON, avoid p146 in which the ******* plot is given away! I had been trying to avoid spoilers...

Yeah to echo what has been said, a secondary flick lowered my opinion from "a bit disappointing" to "hmmm".

I've read it but don't think its that much of a twist - we know most of it from photos & the trailer.

I forgot to mention, I had a small refund from Amazon because of their preorder price promise. I ordered it at £14something and at sometime between then and its release it was listed at £12something.
