I just preordered this as soon as I saw Phil's link. I'm not normally one to preorder things so impulsively, but I've got a Star Wars book like this which is excellent.

That does look interesting. What sort of collectables came with the Star Wars one? What could we expect?

The Star Wars one came with quite a variety of things. Just flicking through now there's script-pages (Holiday special), handwritten notes (empire), stickers, transfers, a program for a LSO Star Wars concert, sheet music, various letters.
The back of the slipcase says:

On a related note, the DC, Batman and Marvel Vaults are currently £14.99 each in The Works.

If anyone has been dithering on preordering this, it's currently down to under £15 on Amazon.

Amazon tell me to expect this 4th June. Only slightly earlier than before (previously the 10th) but woohoo!

Very much looking forward to it.
Irregardless of the quality of the text, the book is already a winner for me because it comes with a tech spec decoder. For some reason, that gets me stupidly excited.

The book! Is! Here!
Some great pictures inside. I really like the Bruticus prototype, Megatron patent... actually the toy section is generally fairly good.
Comics section... I would have liked some removable memorabilia - actually that side of things pretty much drys up once you exit the toy chapter, so that's disappointing. There's not much here apart from pages/covers - certainly not Marvel-wise, but a pencilled Roche page turns up at the end and is glorious. Surprisingly in the Marvel bit, a page (and some other panels) from the Special Teams poster comic are shown here - which is the story I least expected to be featured in this book.
After the comics, it's cartoons then films.
Flicking through the book it seems like there's some interesting stuff but I think it suffers from trying to cover too much and there's not much on some parts of TF history (poor RID). Perhaps a book focussing up to the Beast era would have been a good idea or maybe just a bigger book.
