*screams* Apparently there is a variant of HOTD #18. Packed 50/50 in cases with regular ones. IT BEGINS AGAIN. -Ralph Telford B&M's toy section is the size of a city...but the only DW stuff were 3 of last year's triple Timelord set and 1 HOTD #18. No shelf tags. No Davros. Luckily, the one HOTD #18 that was there was the variant I was looking for! -Ralph

15th and Ruby ordered from Character. Reckon these will have a better paint deco than the retail ones and I don't go 100% on the new series line so I'll have these and be done. Just need a TARDIS now. They have arrived. Much has been made of the new super-articulation style. First impressions: meh. The new super-articulation means it is very hard to get them to stand up without falling over. The Doctor also appears to have one leg longer than the other unless there is some complicated ankle configuration I can't get right. Ruby has a very freaky long sticky-out finger on one hand. I preferred the old more basic articulation style but then I tend to prefer simpler articulation. I don't care how much a figure can move. I just want it to easily stand. The face sculpts and deco are very good. The Doctor's landmine accessory was warped straight out the pack. I'll have to put it under some books. -Ralph

Argh. If you don't balance Ruby just right on her heels it's an instant face palm off the desk.
Oh, she just fell over again.
Fuck off, super-articulation.

Mine arrived today. Look good. The head sculpts are a step up in realism.

But they can't fucking stand up!
Super articulation needs to fuck off! I liked the previous chunky figures!

To be fair, I can't get Marvel Legends or Black Series figures to stand up either.

And that's why they're shite too!
What good is an action figure if IT CAN'T FUCKING STAND??!!
That's like making a toy car that can't roll. Oh. Wait -

The Doctor fell over during the night. Ruby fell over three times during breakfast. These are absolutely fucking terrible.
It is literally impossible to just put them on a flat surface, unlike all the previous figures.
I'll stick with Daleks and TARDIS'! Or old style articulation releases. No interest in any more of these 'gen 3' super-articulation style figures. You can move their knees in all sorts of weird ways but trying to stand a figure up should not be stressful.
I realise I am completely out of step of the market and these will delight 99% of buyers, but for me simpler is better.
A shame. They *look* great but I'm a toy person not a collector person.

Figure stands are your friends in situations like this.
Didn't some older figures come with them?

I don't want figure stands. Figures should be designed to stand. Plugging them into a stand literally defeats the purpose of what an action figure is for me.
I have no interest in collector items. I just like...toys.

Ruby can't even stand if leaned against something. This is the shittest action figure I have ever owned.
The local B&M has been cleaned out of Davros. Surprisingly, some Daleks remain (not the silver mesh variant).

So Character Toys have a bit low production checks or is it just the one new toy. I see they use normal limbs & also see they cover Mattell Turtles line too. Founded 1991 near Manchester. They do seem to make lots of toys

Davros arrived from Llama today! Hooray! He didn't come with unlimited rice pudding, but he did come with Haribo! Most unexpected. Kids and Daleks love it so.

Unfortunately I only had a lot of Haribo lying around after not getting as many trick or treaters as expected. I'll remember the rice pudding for next time - should protect the figure in transit very nicely.

It was probably more that we couldn't serve trick or treaters during peak trick or treating time because we were ourselves out trick or treating.
But also yes.

Argh! The Dalek set has a variant!
Al of Character on Gallifrey Base:
"The Dalek set has the Darker Bronze and gold livery seen in Parting of the ways without the waistband. The other Dalek is based on the Black skirted Imperial Guard CGI character ... sometimes seen with a weird saw arm. the variant is the bronze Cutter/Claw Dalek."

Not sure I can be bothered with that. One set is enough for new series. Isn't it?
Isn't it?
I do like the way this Dalek set mirrors the two in the very first character release back in 2005.
