I've just recently got into the M.A.S.K cartoon series all over again and it got me surfing Ebay looking for the toys. I'm thinking of getting some at some point but, because I've never owned one before I was wondering if they were any good. Has anybody here ever had any of the toys before and if so are they any good?

Some of them are quite imaginative, but some of the ones that just split in half to reveal a different vehicle inside just seem really uninspired. I think they used up all their good ideas on the first couple of years.

Thanks for that Nick. Maybe I'll just concentrate on picking up the first wave of toys that were released in 1985.

I remember thinking they weren't too bad back in the day. Didn't own any, but enjoyed playing with them at breaks at school. I did, however, cut out the masks from the comic and walk around the house with them on.

Oh M.A.S.K! Brings back memories. Yes, I was well into them as a nipper. From memory, my brother and I had the bit truck, a sports car and two different motorcycles. Should still have them in my parent's loft. Prob in terrible condition. But yeah, the toys were great from what I recall. Lots of fun.

*reads Wiki-page* Shinji Aramaki did mechanical design for the TV show? Stone me, I didn't know that. He certainly gets about a bit - from designing for Diaclone, to Mospeada, to M.A.S.K.....

This website has pictures of most of the toys, so should be a good starting point if you're starting a collection. www.cobraislandtoys.com/mask/archive.htmlI didn't have any of the toys myself, but a good friend had lots so I would often play with them. I have a few bits and pieces now.

Thanks for that link Nigel. I've made up my mind now. I think I'll only collect the first series of toys after looking at all of the pictures on that website. The fourth series is by far the worst and Nick was right to say they were uninspired.

I had one of these! The green bike/helicopter thing.
It was bought for me as part of a devastating example of crippling emotional child abuse when I was about 8 years old that has left me scarred for life. One day, I will share this tale, when I have fully come to terms with it.

I don't know if it's a bit...close-minded of me...but....M.A.S.K is a piece of shit!
Never liked it as a child. The concept of dudes putting on big helmets, and cutting around in crappy vehicles never grabbed me in the same way as big robots cutting around AS crappy vehicles.

M.A.S.K. was SKILLLLLLLLLL!!!! As a kid everyone but me had them... My Mum did eventually buy me Condor, the green bike. Got a small collection of it now though to make up for it.... My collection consists of: RHINO, CONDOR (original from kiddy days!), JACKHAMMER, FIREFLY, VAMPIRE, STINGER, MANTA, PIRANA, SLINGSHOT, HURRICANE, OUTLAW. All have their figures and masks. Even got three of the adventure figure packs: VENOMS REVENGE, JUNGLE CHALLENGE, RESCUE MISSION. Nice sturdy toys. I liked the concept and the American style vehicles. For the G.I.JOE 25TH Anniversary line they actually made a 'Specialist Trakker' figure, basically Matt Trakker! He looked like a modern take on the figure from Thunderhawk and even had a heli-pack that was coloured like Condor; the filecard was cool because it stated he led 'M.A.S.K.' as a sub team of G.I.JOE with 'V.E.N.O.M' (Vicious, Evil Network of Mayhem) as the Cobra sub team being their adversaries! The front of the card even had in the top right hand corner the classic M.A.S.K. logo....I hope that hasbro bring back M.A.S.K. in a 3 3/4 figure format with the vehicles, they did buy Kenner and still have the licence for it....

Today I bought a piece of M.A.S.K merchandise that I never knew had existed. For a whopping £3 I bought the M.A.S.K scalextric set.

I have not had any luck finding any info online about this set. I did see one ebay auction for another M.A.S.K scalextric set, but it was very different to the one I found. After so many years some of the track is bucked, so I haven't been able to find out what works and what doesn't yet.

Well I just gave this set another go, and the track appears to be working, but the cars themselves seem to be knackered. The small gear that connects the motor to the back wheels keeps coming away and in my pathetic attempts to put them back in place, I broke them both. At least a third non related crappy car that was in the box managed to do a lap of the circuit before i completely broke that one too.
I did pick up this set with the intention of ebaying it, but I am sure someone who knows what they are doing can fix it.
Anybody want it?

Must admit, I am slowly getting back into MASK. Acquiring the Complete DVD set and watching it with my kids has brought it all back.
I've been warned that some of the toys have not stood the test of time. The gimmicks, springs etc are said to have worn out and deteriorated on the vehicles. This can't be true for all? Would like to reacquire the Piranha bike with Sly Rax again.
I still have my brothers Matt Trakker figure, and I recently came into ownership of a Buddy Hawks. A MASK mug also sits proudly on my windowsill as a pencil tidy.

M.A.S.K! Blimey I'd forgotten all about it. Geez I wonder if my parents have my old toys. I certainly don't have them. There was supposed to be a "Get all of your old toys or we'll get rid of them we're clearing out the loft" thing going on there a few years ago or something.... oh dear.......
