Energon Slugslinger is in need of a repaint, he's one of the few TFs who haven't been repainted! Cybertron Menasor definately. The original is such a mishmash of colours, and quite drab with it. That mold is so strange and techy, it has a lot of potential. Energon Grimlock and Swoop - they are a terrible pair I admit, but they have some potential, I think they were let down by the rather bland and flat scheme they recieved. Some hands as originally planned (check the box art) for Swoop wouldn't have gone amiss though! Energon Slugslinger got turned into the TFCC Airrazor. I actually want that version over the original...
I can't think of anyone who'd benefit froma a new paintjob, unless they went all neon and G2-ish. Then everyone needs needs new colour schemes!

Airrazor is rather nice yes, BUT I feel the original mold has some potential - the face is very Two-Face, he would work well with a two-face scheme, or maybe a half-battle damaged scheme, or... anything really than what he got. |

Hmm, what else.
Cybertron Wingsaber is a mold that needs another go. Same with the Energon one actually. I understand when they do the homagey-schemes, but I do prefer new charcters to look like new characters, rather than slightly like an old character.
Could anything save Energon Prime? Not sure. I did like the more unified drone colour scheme that nearly got released rather than the really random colours they got on the first release.

I imagine he would have a base 'generic' colour with purple and red highlights either side. There's a surprising amount you can do with paint apps, though Botcon's bigger budget for them helps. Some of the obvious targets have fallen in recent years: we have a Machine Wars Racecar Flipchanger as Mirage and Cyberjet Hooligan as Jetfire.
I had a Phil's repaint deluxe wave online somewhere but can't find it. What I can remember is:
Armada Hoist as Scavenger - green for white, purple for brown, orange & blue
Armada Wheeljack as Armada Autobot Wheeljack - white for black and grey for white, fix the broken Autobot symbol (ditto bellow for that last bit)
Armada Wheeljack as Sideswipe - red for black and black for white
Armada Wheeljack as Sunstreaker - yellow for black and black for white
Night Slash Cheetor as Cheetor - yellow for black & grey, clear green for clear orange.
Waspinator as Bumblebee - yellow for green, black for grey, dark clear blue for the wings and lightpipe. Similar to Buzzsaw but just different enough.
Armada Demolishor as Sixshot - green for Red, white for beige, green for the dark grey and silve for the light grey.
The orange version of Tigatron with the green swapped for red as Beast Wars Hooligan.
Other thoughts for other sizes:
I'd repaint the Machine Wars Wrecker Truck three times: Once in green and orange as Hoist and once in Red & Blue as Optimus and once in Red & Yellow/orange as Rodimus with a flame deco. (these take their que from a KO Iown in the Prime colours with flames which looks better than any of the official colours)
The Star Sabre minicon team twice in clear red and clear purple.
An all white Beast Wars Ultra Optimus Primal as Yeti Ultra Magnus.

I would really like that Autobot Wheeljack, that's something we've been missing from Armada. We did get a Night Slash Cheetor in traditional Cheetor colours in Universe didn't we? Great mold.
The problem I have with repainting molds like popular classic G1 characters is that sooner or later a better, more suitable version will appear. Take Botcon Springer. I mean, I /guess/ that mold could be Springer, but once Fansproject Springer popped up, why would you want something that kinda could be Springer, instead of someone who IS Springer. That's an extreme example, but you get what I mean.

I keep 'em in car mode*. *In fact, I think I have yet to transform them even once in the 7 years I've had them. Probably because I have a Speedbreaker as well. And, no, I don't find him too tricky. |

Everything just needs repainted in crazy AM Thundercracker era-colours.
No other colour schemes are required.
