Which toys has the best head?
Do you class best because of a feature it lights up or something else? That it glows with red or green eyes or maybe with a 2nd part under it that is gold or red foil.
But which toy or toys have the best heads.

For me, it has to be [original] Soundwave, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. I always preferred the more "robotic" and less human heads.
I was disappointed when I first saw Bumblebee's more humanised look in the cartoon.
Also: Speedbreaker. I like his clear eye-piece mask thing.

But which toy or toys have the best heads. Lightpiping is pretty standard now, it has got to the point where I get annoyed if toys aren't light piped. Classics Skywarp has a great head. It's the same as Starscream but it is painted really nicely with the silver, really giving a boost to the iconic sculpt. Universe Sunstreaker's head is both a great sculpt and has the clever pop-out ears so it can be larger but tucked away in a small space! Straxus is pretty spot on Bad heads: Universe Galvatron - Looks like Galvatron-by-Dan-Reed Classics Rodimus - Way too robotic looking. I know he's a robot, but that isn't Hot Rod. I hate most of the Movie figures for looking like horrible monsters. Special mention has to go to Mixmaster's green voyager repaint's head. Oy Vey. www.seibertron.com/transformers/toys/revenge-of-the-fallen/mixmaster-g1/1943/1/46/

Combat Hero Op for the lightpipe, BW Ultra Op for the sculpt.
I too hate the Movie head sculpts with a passion. They don't fit the Transformers aesthetic

The original Soundwave, Grimlock and Prime heads are grand.

They are good heads, but the Soundwave one suffers because the cartoon design is just so good. It's a bit of a crime we've not seen a decent figure with THAT head.

Nowt wrong with the cartoon head, but the toy one is just so fixed in my head from the box art used on multiple merchandise back in the day.

Indeed, for me Soundwave's toy head is the definite version and the cartoon one - whilst there is nothing wrong with it - is a less impressive reinterpretation.
I quite like the usual suspects - Bumblebee's proper (toy) head, Grimlock's grumpy looking visage. I am quite fond of Overlord's fizzog as well though - he just looks terribly smug.
But the prize must go to the one-eyed titan, governer of Tarn, multiple time holder of the Decepticon Leader belt - Shockwave's staring mono-camera is for me one of the most striking heads in Transformers.

Now, why did I automatically think this was a rude thread after reading the title? I think you people are begining to rub off on me.
Great question. I love, and indeed demand, light-piping. I like a mixture between humany and roboty headed characters. Gotta love ol' One-Eye. I think he has the most memorable head. I like the 'vent' bits on the sides of the strike planes heads. Prowl's horns, of course. Megatron's bucket. Jazz's visor. Soundwave is awesome. Always thought Scavenger in the comic had a great face/head. Unicron's beard and horns are memorable. And Wheeljack is brilliantly unique. Losts to chose from alright!

Thats making the topic seem confusing with all the talk about seeing in car mode. We know they can because we see Transformers driving & flying - also Megatron flies in his gun mode but where does he see from? We need another topic just how Transformers use there headlights or whatever to see.

I would like to nominate Universe Cyclonus. I'm too tired to think of anymore.

Should heads also have moving parts? moving mouth for Optimus or those side bits on RID Prime. Cybertron Prime has a fantasic Prime head. I love how the faceplate flips up and yet it still turns, and you can give him ears or not!
