Are there any slang words or phrases that annoy you?
The use of "natch" annoyed me, but it seems to have fallen out of the lexicon in the last few years.

The word 'lush' to describe something that is good makes me angry for some reason.
Same for the word 'tight'. Usually followed by 'innit'

Funny enough, I've just started using "Lush", ususally preceded by a "Proper". I'd love to know where I've picked that up from.
I don't like "text speak". I find it very hard to read and folllow, but l33tsp34k and lolcats are fine, oddly enough.

l33tspeak and such is fine because it is mostly used ironically now, but txtspeak does anger me uncontrollably. There is a lady in the office in which I work who even emails directors in incomprehensible text speak, I am baffled by this.

I hate the word "mate". I associate the word as a description for a male friend but I was surprised to hear a man call a female member of staff in Nationwide mate. "I want to pay in £100 mate", "yeah mate", "no mate". That wound me up.

Text speak drives me insane. And that using full words and proper spelling seems to irritate other people who do not understand why I do not use text speak. A number is not a ******* word! That drives me insane also.

I am not a fan of txt speak from a computer. I don't mind the odd abreviation from a cellphone keypad, but no way from a qwerty keyboard. I say 'bud' as an alternative to 'mate' . ===KEN

I want to ban 'badass' from common usage. It means utterly nothing and appears to replace 50% of the vocabulary on-line.

Blud. Bovvered?
Graham, I suggest you avoid reading NGamer magazine. 'Natch' represents at least 25% of the text in each issue.
Edit: I'm attending a training course and have been asked to complete "prework" for each lesson. The word annoys me considerably.

Definitely txt speak, if only because its now utterly redundant. It came about as a way to quickly type texts with minimal keys strokes on a phone. However 99% of phones released since 2003 have had either predictive text, or more commonly now, full QWERTY keyboards. If you are still using txt speak on your phone then either you are:
i) still using the ancient way of typing e.g. pressing 1 three times to get a C. Predictive text makes typing out full words less key strokes in most cases, so txt speak no longer saves time. ii) being deliberately obtuse. Especially if you have a QWERTY keyboard.

Actually predictive text never works properly for me so I turn it off. As it happens I don't use txt speak but for those that do, predictive text isn't necessarily the answer.
One of my own hates: LOL to express only mild amusement.

I find predictive text completely unusable and deeply frustrating. I just take the time to type words properly. No interest in having a keyboard on my phone.

"Random" being used to describe pretty much anything other than something random is currently doing my head in.

Dave's referring to your typo.
It's not slang as such, but it annoys me to see shop sale signs that read, "Up to half price." This is neither correct nor what the retailer means. A price goes down to half, not up; the intended meaning is that a maximum 50% of the original price has been taken off (typically seen on signs as "up to half price off").

I dislike "Your mum" or "Yo Mamma" and any 'Mum Joke' variations in general.
