What's better: Weapons hidden in alternate mode or "Attack Mode" weapons?
Hidden weapons include things like Beast Wars Deluxe Cheetor's tail and stomach become guns for the robot mode or Car Robots Speedbreakers exhaust and rear bumper becoming missile and launcher in robot mode.
"Attack Mode" weapons include things like the giant blasters for the likes of the Stunticons or weapons than can be mounted atop the Powermasters and the like.

Integrating robot weapons into the vehicle mode is always good.
There are some very good weapons mounted on vehicle modes. Unfortunately the Stunticons are particularly poor and can't be used in robot mode. a gun that exists just to give a vehicle a gun that doesn't normally have one is useless. If the robot can use it too it's great.

Attack mode I think.
The problem with hidden weapons is that often the for a significant portion of the alt mode so when they go missing they harm the toy.

You raise a good point there.
I guess a properly hidden weapon, like the two Machine Wars mini jets and Generations Cybertronian Bumblebee aren't spoiled if the guns are lost.
But then you've got the likes of Wolfang...

Attack mode for me, because as a kid I prefered them. And I'd rather Prowl had a big rifle that I might lose, than a piddly little pistol that fits ito a space unde his bonnet.

Yeah, that's one my disappointments with the Binaltech stuff... really pathetic weapons considering the size of the robots!

Applies to the CHUG stuff as well. Sideswipe needs a gun and shoulder cannon! Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen need a rifle! And so on...

On the other hand Classic Prime pair of weapons are excellent and if lost don't utterly destroy the look of the alt mode.
Jazz (after playing with it last weekend) looks to be one of the first in a long time that has a cool hidden gun that doesn't form an important part of the car mode.

I prefer when weapons are actually part of the alt mode, since I hate having extra bits lying around and having to keep them with the figure so I remember that it's theirs

I use little press-seal clear bags for my weapons. You know, the kind you get crack cocaine supplied in.
Of course, it's not fool proof, as I've still managed to lose one of Fire Convoy's missiles and one of Ruination/Ro-Tor's side guns.

Oh I do have a drawer full of Cyber Planet keys, kibble bits and missiles, but I just prefer to keep things with the toy it's from in general, just so I don't forget that it's supposed to be part of him or something This is why I keep Heinrad's gun/saki bottle, missiles and IOU pad right next to him at all times

I voted for hidden weapons, but I must point out that Dead End and possibly others could fit their giant dual guns firmly on their backs as overhead cannons in robot mode.

Just tilted towards hidden weaps for me, although I agree with what folkes are saying about they've got to be done right (Alternator weapons were weak). Attack weaps can be alot of fun, but I think I prefer weapons to be integrated. Classics Prowl's shoulder cannons, for example, are top bannana.

Do they have Tescos name on them? I would prefer clear ones when I finally get around to sorting out/cataloging/storing my collection, but if Tescos are cheap enough, they'll do!

I bought mine from Staples a few years back. They're all plain (no branding) and come in all sorts of sizes. Very handy.

Doesn't the plastic in these tend to yellow white plastic parts?

Not in my experience. I've had God Magnus's white missiles in bags for the last ten years with no ill effects.

I'll get some photos up of my lego space and SW stormtroopers up. It does seem to depend on type of plastic too
