Back from doctors. The latest odd infection is identified as Streptococus (which is somewhat ironic......) Penicilan 4xdaily for a week

Take care of yourself bud.
I have a day of attic clearance to do and am going to try and get a slot of time to watch that Colossus film properly.

Much to the delight of work someone left last week, so they now have even less people to pay. Unfortunately this means booking time off is difficult and they've posted a list of dates that no one is allowed to book off. There are lots of individual days that are a no-no and huge blocks of dates too - including the second half of August. As an indication they have no intention of hiring anyone else soon the list also includes dates in January next year (!!).

Monday....was.... is the fairest way to put it. A work day that was somewhere between productive and lost cause (a lot of work done, but not a lot of result). The actual getting to work, through the torrential rain, was not fun and in both getting to and from Edinburgh there were significant delays due to the traditional flooding at Winchburgh Junction. (If it rains heavily the junction floods and the trains go all to pot. It is just one of those immutable laws).
I was rather hoping that the snow would actually hang around for a bit though. I like snow, and I'd much rather have that than the rain. Especially with family coming up and all. On the bright side at least the wind has dropped.

I dunno. I quite like the wind. We've had no snow nor rain that I'm aware of, but I'm planning a trip to Brum on the morrow, so would be just like the fickle Gods of the weather to mess me about a bit.
BRING IT, you fickley fickle weather Gods!

A rather bad day at work on the whole. Brightened up tonight, by some pasta when I got home and the last edits of something the good Doctor and I have been working on...

Piglet's room is now YELLOW!!!! Very yellow. At her request, I might add. Counted up how many days we've got to decorate/renovate before Wriggler arrives (that's Wriggler, not Riddler), and it ain't enough, baby! Aaaarrrgh! So all hands to the whatsanames! Piglet was very pleased to come home from school today to find her bedroom yellow! She ran to give me a hug and accidentally poked me in the eye, but what ya gunna do?

Spent most of Tuesday lifting concrete posts, laying concrete and fitting garden fences. Back hurts.
I got a meeting later today about a role in a small independant film. It should be good.

This evening was much better, having been spent at Dinner with my mother and her husband who are up visiting Scotland for a few days and staying in a hotel a few minutes down the road from me. I think it is her husband's first visit to Scotland so they are planning to cover a bit of ground doing touristy things over the next few days - I shall be joining them to do touristy stuff once the weekend arrives and I am released from work. Thanks Karl. Hope stuff gets better for you.
Been woken up and can't settle back down. Not by Blaise this time, but by the cats who knocked over the empty recycling containers in the kitchen. Blaise woke up too and cried a bit, though she calmed down after her calpol interval and a change. She's just had her first immunisation and really hated having her shots done.
Zip & Star have been jealous of the baby for quite a while and are doing all manner of things to get attention. Most of these things are very naughty.

Sorry to hear other folks aren't having great weeks either. The work part of mine hasn't been great, but the having family up bit has been good - and I have been distracted from the current difficulties of my work life by following the coverage of the, quite frankly totally unexpected, sight of historic events unfolding in Egypt anyway as I haven't been worrying too much. Off to Edinburgh to do touristy things today (hence the getting up at 7am on a Saturday) which I am rather looking forward to as I don't usually experience that Edinburgh.

Evening folks! Well, middle of the night here in Saudi. I should go to bed. Rest my aching body.
My so-called mates took me off to the gym to show me how to *really* torture myself. I can barely lift my arms. Ah well. At least things are looking up academically. All going well I'll be on track to graduate in August. Even better, if I can find somewhere else to take me on for an approved research internship over the summer, I can be out of this place in May! No need to worry about another summer of hell!
If I can find something. Ideally in the States, so I can hit eBay.com like a ton of bricks and bring back all sorts of old US figures for Toy-fu!
I'll try not to mention this in the interview.
