Shadow Warrior
Perfect Effect are another company making third party Transformer Toys and add-ons. I believe they may be related to Fansproject, who made the City Commander armour for Classics Ultra Magnus and Protector & Sidearm for Classics Rodimus but I can't be sure and Their Blog is in Japanese so that's not much use!
The Perfect Effect Shadow Warrior comes in a small box about the size and shape of an old fashioned cassette tape (120mm x 80mm x 20mm, which is quite apt really. I'd looked at the pictures of this toy and been expecting an action figure about the size of a basic so it was a shock when I pulled the tray out and found the figure stood along the shorter of the two side on the front of the box. He's about 60mm high which makes him a full centimetre smaller than Legends Bumblebee. The figure comes in a 2 part plastic tray with the halves meeting in the middle to entomb the figure. When you free him from his plastic prison the resemblance to Rumble and Frenzy becomes clear. The figure itself is black, with a dark grey/blue chest and upper limbs, which is instantly recognisable as the Scourge/Nemesis Prime colours. The articulation is fantastic for a toy of this size: Knees, hips, shoulders and hips are ball jointed while the head & waist turn and lean backwards & forwards. I don't think there's a Legends sized figure which come close to that.
A number of weapons are supplied with Shadow Warrior. First there's a tubular hand gun which he can hold. Next there's a pair a guns, each with a wing attached to them, that are nearly identical to those used by Rumble & Frenzy. They can be pegged into the back or held in the hands but the latter is a rather tight fit on mine. The final set of weapons look like a pair of chain guns and come pegged together in a form that can once again be mounted on the robot's back. They split into separate chain guns which can either be held in the hands or pegged under each forearm, however on my copy one of the tabs on one of the guns doesn't quite fit the slot it needs to. When attached to the underside of the arms the chain guns resemble the pile drivers used by Rumble & Frenzy in the cartoon series. The tops of each chain gun open up to act as storage space for the wing blasters.
Transformation: Store the wing guns in the chain guns and peg the chain guns together by sliding the tab on one gun into the slot on the back of the other. Turn the head round 90 degrees and fold the head forward into the body folding a 5mm peg out of his back. Slip the chain gun unit over his shoulders so they point straight up. Straighten the arms at the side of the body. Straighten the legs out and peg them together. Fold the feet into the front of the lower legs. Rotate the waist 180 degrees then bend the legs at the hip and knee folding them over the robot's chest. Fold the arms at the elbow and slot into the sides of the legs. Push the hilt of the gun into the shallow peg under the gun to provide a handle.
Here we deviate from Rumble/Frenzy analogy as Shadow Warrior transforms into a gun, effectively a large Targetmaster with each chain gun/pile driver forming one barrel reminiscent of the dual barrelled shape taken by many of the original Targetmasters. He's a little large as a weapon for deluxe and small characters but larger ones he's more suited to. I've seen him, minus the gun handle, attached to the shoulders of City Commanders as dual shoulder cannons.
It's a fabulous piece of kit, but £30 for a figure this size, even one this well engineered and articulated, isn't something I'm looking to pay to often.
Warrior Type-R & Warrior Type-F
You know what to expect here. Shadow Warrior repainted as Rumble and Frenzy. They look gorgeous, but expect to pay through the nose to get a set.
This is the only repaint Shadow Commander has had but a very similar design was used for their Ninja Rosanna and Ejector & Rewinder toys.
