Never liked the films....they seem so naffly edited. In the second one, all those bits coming out of Kenneth Copes hands and the big dildo drill in his head....ugh. The films just got crappier and crappier. I've often found Barkers stuff sameish too.

I think the first one is a genuinely good film, the second one is nearly there but falls short, and the rest are very blah, at least the ones I've seen (I borrowed a friend's boxset of uh, 1-5 I believe, a while back)
I seem to remember Hellraiser 3 had a villain who shot CDs from his stomach at people though, that was entertaining
EDIT: Eh, didn't think much of that preview I'm afraid. It didn't make sense and seemed to be just gore and torture for the sake of it rather than for any actual reason.

Hellraiser 1 is great, 2 is almost there, as you say but falls apart a little. 3 onwards are a bit pants and get progressively worse.
The prelude is a nod to the second film, when the young girl opens the box, but the Cenobites leave her, knowing that it was the curiosity of Dr Channard that put the box in her hands to ensure it was opened, and establishes what the Cenobites aka The Order of the Gash are about.

Some of the old epic Hellraiser comics are now on the Comixology app for 59p for two tales. Some good stuff, hopefully more will follow so we can get to the Mick McMahon and Derek Yaniger illustrated tales.
