There was so much happening across the planet, with hundreds of millions of people switching off lights and doing fun things in the dark for an hour - all to make a serious point to global leaders that the world wants urgent action to tackle climate change.

Iconic landmarks going dark ranged from: Niagra Falls in Canada; Times Square in New York; the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio; Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Big Ben and the London Eye in the UK; the Alhambra in Spain; Eiffel Tower in Paris; Brandenburg Gate, Berlin; Tivoli, Copenhagen; Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe; Kuwait Towers; Milad Tower, Tehran; Davis Station, Antarctica; and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
