Hasbro have put up the finalist for the Hall of Fame voting! www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/2011-TRANSFORMERS-HALL-OF-FAME-VOTE.cfmNominations were gathered by all the major TF boards, and are: Grimlock Shockwave Erector Waspinator Jazz Personally I have voted for Erector, because he is a Micromaster, because the profile Hasbro gave him is hilarious ("Wait, what is this? Why am I here?") and because the Allspark tried to rig the voting by discounting all votes for Erector because one of the mods didn't like it. Viva Micromasters!

If I see one more fanboy laughing at Erector being a dick joke, I swear I will Hulk out. Get out of your basements!

So torn, I hate why the majority of people appear to be voting for Erector*. But I love that a micromaster is nominated and the profile is really nice and I'm really curious as to what kind of video they'll be able to put together if he wins. Plus it is a funky toy, it not countdown, but its a good toy.
*Hates extreme, I, but it's a mildly amusing joke thats just long since stopped being funny when it became about getting in people faces in a similar way to how certain Americans response to Spastic just went to far once they found out people were annoyed or upset by it. The fact that so many seem to take pleasure in that shit really has made me re-evaluate a lot of people in the last 3 months.

While making fun of Erector's name is a bit silly, it is titter-worthy playground humour rather than anything out-and-out offensive.
Hasbro's bio for him has officially made him the representative for all ignored super obscure guys, so I have no qualms giving him my nod!

As an ambassador for Micromasters, I have voted for Erector.
The name's been around for 22 years; by now we should be able to resist any erection jokes. I know it's hard.

Not too take something so silly and pointless seriously and fairplay if Erector is genuinely your favourite character, but people voting for a character because they think his name is somewhat of a dick joke or because they get perverse satisfaction out of annoying other fans? Another proud moment in TF fandom.

I actually really like obscure characters in general, and none of the other options really excite me too much, plus Erector's G1 toy is fun, that's why I'm voting for him
Also, I wonder if Hasbro would put the Movie 1 Mudflap (the Cybertron Mudflap repaint to look like Erector but as a Decepticon) would be included in his display at the convention, since he's lacking a bit in toys

The whole Hall of Fame thing is pretty worthless anyway, with the fact that when a character wins, every single character who shares that name wins. And then Hasbro hacks together a bio that somehow merges them all.
So hey, go Micromasters.

That does sound pretty stupid and worth spoiling with comedy votes, to be honest.

I wonder...if Mirage is ever inducted would they include the Decepticon Mirage from Energon, or the Minicon from Armada

Perhaps whoever wins will becomes the next main character in the next Transformers movie.
Imagine: Transformers The Rise of Erector.

I see they've had to rename him Autobot Erector, which is even worse then plain Erector. It sounds like some sort of Cybertronian sex aid. (That's not another Erector joke, that is actually what it sounds like to me.)
Hmm. Tough choice. Grimlock's one of my favourites, both the comedic cartoon version and the tougher, more intelligent comic version. Shockwave perhaps doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I like Waspinator a lot, but that's more to do with his comedy value rather than being a strong character. Erector, I think would represent the lesser Transformers but voting for him would seem (or become) a joke. I actually find Jazz a fairly insubstantial character, but recognise that he is a stalwart. I shall have to ponder this. Grimlock or Shockwave, I think.

I don't think I actually voted. The webpage's gone so I assume voting's over. Ho-hum. Anyhoo, this year's human inductees: Bay and Spielberg. www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/michael-bay-and-steven-spielberg-to-be-inducted-into-transformers-hall-of-fame-172204/Regardless of opinion of the films, I think they are worthy inductees; the films have done wonders for the popularity and public recognition of the brand. However, is it too soon? Are there are others whose contributions should have been recognised first? Simon Furman; the Hasbro executives that brought the toys to the West; the original cartoon creators; Bob Forward, Larry DiTilio and others that worked on Beast Wars and brought Transformers back from obscurity. Inducting Bay and Spielberg so close to the film's release smacks of a marketing gimmick rather than a true Hall of Fame recognition.

It blatantly is a PR and marketing decision but the whole process is really, even the four characters selected by Hasbro have movie versions.
But in reality the fact is doing these two this year is the only time Hasbro have a chance of getting either to attend or take some involvement so in that respect this is the best time.
Without the movie I wonder if Hasbro ever would have gone back to reintroduce the traditional G1 line up for classics line (which served as a warm up for the movie) and has certainly gone on to become the fan favourite. And Animated even though it was being developed alongside/before the movie certainly was influenced by it.
No movie and we'd probably be suffering through another AEC trilogy right now.
