This auction is not mad because of the price. Behold the glory and grandeur of Custom G2 Mirage. -Nick

That is a wonderfully bonkers looking thing - both the custom and the original concept. Truly marvellous.

So... all versions are just paint slapped onto an early 1980s blue and white toy, right? Not quite as impressive an object as one actually made out of plastic in those colours would have been, that's for sure. And a bit of a waste of a good Mirage, given that they apparently can't make any more of them.

The folks that do the bootleg Diaclone cars have already done Mirage in traditional, Diaclone red and new black variants. I may have bought the red one.

Then as of this moment in time they are letting us down. As are Hasbro for not using this colour scheme on the classics mold.

Makes me wish I'd invested in a few in the early days of eBay when they used to sell for $300 and such.

Man, I remember those. Same guy has a not-quite-G1 set for nearly twice as much.

What that really needs is for it to be more practical.
The CD player doesn't cut it for me. The torso needs to double as a drinks cabinet, with CD storage in the arms and DVD storage in the legs. Oh, I know what I'll be doing when I have my own house....

I just read a listing by someone in Grantham, Lincolnshire that included, "Please be aware that postage fees may be slightly higher for potential buyers living in places such as Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Chanel Islands. Email me for details before purchasing please." What?!

Well, I shouldn't really, but he's put me off bidding because I actually find that a bit offensive, so what the heck, it's scott100-2008.
(Where are the Chanel Islands anyway? I imagine they smell nice.)

I think they are just to the south of the equator, in the general area of the Versace Archipelago. Possibly in the same general area as the Peoples Republic of Guichi.....
