Couple of months ago I had my WSTF Megatron pulled for being a replica gun. The world's smallest replica gun for the world's smallest terrorist! Hmm, now there's a thought. I wonder if a Cobra Commander action figure can hold a WSTF Megatron.

Following on from our months of moaning about the changes ebay are making I just discovered an alternative auction site to ebay entitled rather imaginatively ebid. Unlike TF auctions it doesn't just do TF stuff. uk.ebid.net/indexmain.phpAndy

Is that some kind of pencil sketch version of Escalation #1? Either way I'll never buy it for such a silly amount of money as that.

I like the "We'll throw in 12 MIB Machtackles" bit. Any correlation between Hasbo's bootleg clampdown and this auction? hmmmmm I wonder what the next few bootlegs would have been

Looking through his listings this guy is almost certainly a bootlegger selling high-quality fakes for massive profits. NOBODY has multiple MIB liokaisers, cyclonuses or nightbeats in the quantity he was selling at. All toys which have been bootlegged in the past. The buying ones seem to be possible future bootlegs.

Could this be the singularly most expensive Transformers lot auction. Ever?

Could this be the singularly most expensive Transformers lot auction. Ever? Go on somebody, put a scuffed decoy for sale with a minimum bid of $35,000.01 just to prove it isn't. Martin

First, a bit of context. In early 2003 I spotted a fabulous Korean knockoff of Dinoking called the BIOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY DINOSAUR CORPS that combined to form DINNO KING. It was $30 and came in an attractive giftset/carry case. The colours were mostly right and I was pleased to discover when it arrived that it was made from sturdy, high quality plastic. I had very much won a coconut but, nonetheless, it's still a Korean bootleg. Now... Behold the face of madness. -Nick

Oh dear, poor sap. Nick, perhaps you should email the buyer and tell him he's been duped whilst he still might have time to do something about it.

Check out his/her recent purchases. In the grand scheme of things I dont think they are worried. Amusing to see they paid half that price for a real Monstructor though.

I've got two of the dinosaur combat troop bootlegs (bristleback and scowl) still in their packaging from 1996 at my parents' house.......

Yeah, I saw that and pondered. Looks like one of the Japanese HM heads gone over with a gundam marker and some piss coloured prototype of Chromedome. So maybe the bidding is high for the prototype. However, running it through online translators give the line "Otherwise, the prototype of the car, put on a comparative picture as the only Because it's not for sale, please check the room." Which kinda reads to me as the prototype isn't for sale and whoever is bidding so high has got the wrong idea.

I do believe that some of the japanese sellers have realised who are bidding on their auctions and do this sort of thing deliberately as there isnt much of a come back for the buyers.

Maybe I'm just a cockeyed* optimist, but I figure sellers all over the world are united by their enjoyment of money and wouldn't go out of their way to screw over foreign bidders (the occasional shipping-price-gouger notwithstanding). I suspect the "not for sale" part of the lot description refers to the "NOT FOR SALE" stamp commonly found on prototype toys, added for legal reasons because they generally don't conform to the finished article's level of toy safety.

In my, albeit limited and anecdotal, experience online sellers tend to be equal opportunities gougers. If that is the sort of thing they are going to do then they tend to be happy to do it to folk from anywheres.
What you do find on Yahoo Japan auctions tends to be a lot of folk who don't wish to ship internationally or deal with international bidders full stop. They could, however, be folk much like me - folk who don't want to do that because they don't want the extra hassle.

I am hearing the theme from 'Ulysses 31' in my head as I read this thread. I have no idea why.
