Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Action Set Starscream
Phil does not like the Movie Starscream design. In four years I have bought just one, a legends repaint that came in a 2-pack with the Smokescreen repaint of Universe Legends Rodimus. The body is just too wide. Legion Starscream is a new design with a 3mm c-clip for his right hand, bending elbows, ball jointed shoulders & hips and swivelling thighs. The Action Set comes with a missile launcher he can hold by a 3mm peg or can be attached to a larger toy by a 5mm peg.
Transform: Fold the cockpit up from his chest to point up. Fold the arms out to the sides at the shoulder and then lower the shoulder joints till the panels they're on meet in the middle. Bring the legs up over the robot's chest. Fold the tail down and peg the arms onto it.fold the tail fins up.
No real complaints with the raptor like jet mode though, it's just the robot design. There's many better TF Raptors out there.
Starscream come with what's described as an assault craft. It's a futuristic lump of bulgy plastic with a little bay for Starscream's jet to rest in underneath. A large engine is at the rear on each side and that pivots at it's connection to the assault craft. each engine has a 3mm bar on top, with the base mode connection ports on the outer side. The engines need to be pointed down to connect to another base.
Folding the bulgy structure up reveals a platform for figures to stand on and a short runway for jets. This mode is meant to have the nose panels on the assault craft fold down, with panels under the craft folding up but the just won't stay there, they're two heavy and inevitably pull the nose of the deck back together, so just don't bother. The engines are now orientated right for connection and as a bonus you can now see they have 5mm peg holes in the top for attaching the weapon to. There's a further two 3mm holes in the deck's nose for attaching weapons to.
Rotating the engines so they point down and then pulling back on the Battle Station's tower transforms the craft into Space Cruiser mode, basically an air craft carrier deck with engines.
I'm not 100 feeling the love for this set. I don't like the jet for starters and while the battle station is a nice addition to the Cyberverse base it's flawed by not being able to transform it correctly and thus not being able to raise the guns, found under the other modes, into place as towers.
