I have to say that I don't really see a great deal of similarity, beyond a few very cosmetic features. The Magna-guard fighter looks very like a "wing and pod" kind of design, whereas the Ark seems much more like a single, flattened unit. I think I understand where you are coming from, but for me I think the differences outweight the similarities.
