Customs have their Sauron-like eye upon me. Every package from Japan gets intercepted. My sea-faring Brave Maximus (available from Toy-fu only at Auto Assembly blabbidy bloo) finally arrived last week and cost me an extra £21.67. I have another demand for £23 for another box sent via air mail from SMJ (my proxy service) that arrived on Saturday. Going to get it tomorrow. £100 postage on this sucker. I just hope the contents are worth it.

Remember those three big mixed lots you spotted a couple of months back? Remember how I won two of them? They're in the box, along with... a few other items.

The other box was £90 postage. It contains a frankly ridiculous amount of extremely cheap Machine Robo Rescue toys that I hope to hell somebody wants. It should be here in a week or so.
I decided to split everything into two boxes so I could get them in the front door.

All of them, as far as I can tell. The auction pictures don't show up any more, but I'll take some pics when they get here.

I finally got around to sorting my Fed Ex customs charge for Fort Max, because it was missing a part and I got 25% off I contacted Fed Ex to see if the bill could be adjusted and to my surprise it was eventually lowered by 25%, well the VAT bit not the fee, but still it saved me about £10.
For some reason I can't imagine Parcelforce being willing to do the same.

Don't forget you pay VAT on the cost of shipping and duty as well as the cost of the item. It's apparently very heavy. I will be revealing all to the Brum crew at Memorabilia tomorrow Let's hope it lives up to the hype. -Nick

I think its absurd, hurts that VAT went 17.5% down to assist recession hurt folk at 15% for a bit - then up to 17.5% and again to 20% (which appears not to be a temporary measure).
CUTA really annoys me as it applies to postage as well, I find it somewhat absurd that you are charged tax on postage, but you don't actually get it delivered unless you pay more. What are going being taxed for if they aren't even delivering it? Bloody scam.

Indeed. A few AA-related folks are going to Memorabilia this weekend. We are gathering for lunch and later abusing the hospitality of the head of the University of Birmingham's sci-fi & fantasy club who has invited as many people as will fit in his house over to watch the 50th anniversary Doctor Who -Nick

One of our esteemed colleagues has managed to run up a sizeable Pile of Loot at BBTS.
Sizeable as in $6200
BBTS are saying they want to ship it now.
Shall we have a little game and play "guess the CUTAing"?
