Nick, didn't you get a couple of those KO Mirages that are doing the rounds, boxed and original looking? What were they like? Good quality?

I don't understand what the fags have to do with the toy. Is it to show how big it is or something?

It's common to show Yahoo auction items next to a packet of cigarettes or a lighter or something. I think it's just for size comparison, since so many people smoke in Japan (I've heard).
Red Mirage... the paint applications aren't perfect (especially on the eyes), and the plastic feels a wee bit lighter and less sturdy compared to Hasbro's 80s stuff. I've transformed it a few times and haven't suffered any paint chipping or bother, although one leg was rather reluctant to slide out from the middle all the way. Other than that it's a perfect replica, right down to the photos in the instruction manual. The paperwork and stickers are all flawless and my only real criticism (apart from the paint on -and around- the eyes) is that the red plastic shows through the white paint. Not sure how that could have been avoided without applying 15 coats, though.

I just received those WST Dinorobots Grimlock and Slag. My god they are fantastic toys. They even come with tiny stickers, bastards to apply, but they look brilliant. Need to track down Snarl now. I wonder if Sludge is out yet? Swoop (I think) can only be bought using the robot points that come with each toy. LinkIf anyone wants to bid, just bid the minimum 99p. Even if you're outbid, you'll get a second chance offer.

I thought TFSource were selling Swoop without the need for redeeming the points (just at a premium)?

Yeah not cheap and I hope never to spend that much on KOs again but my WST TF line up with Grand Maximus is such a fine sight.

Andy- to my eye it looks like a standard Scramble City setup, with pegs in the Inferno-esque arms and at the knees of the Onslaught-backwards-with-added-feet legs.

Yeah its the MM combiner legs that confuse me, are the connectors on them if not whats the point and if they do how do they connect to Prime. Also the constructicons aren't known for here scramble city like combining.

I think this is similar to the Primeish version of Onsalught that appeared last year under the Power Warriors label.

Didn't notice the one with Constructicons on it. Blimey.
That one you're talking about, Phil, has been hanging up in a random tat shop in Castlemilk shopping centre. Do either of you want me to pick it up and post it down?

Yeah its the MM combiner legs that confuse me, are the connectors on them if not whats the point and if they do how do they connect to Prime. Also the constructicons aren't known for here scramble city like combining. The MM legs seem to just go on top of the Prime legs, you can see a pic in the bottom left corner of the box. The Constructicons come with an extra head/chest component not in the others. The arms probably attach to that. For the legs, there's pegs on the back of the Mixmaster and Scrapper, which I expect just pop into holes on the Prime feet.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but Poundland are actually doing a rather good knockoff Landcross - and he's huge! I've put more pics and a writeup on my site, but the bottom line is that if you want a giant Landcross for six quid, you can do a lot worse: www.redshirt.co.uk/toys/king-of-knock-offs-landcross/

We mention this in the KO's threadWhat 's the quality like compared to the poor reissue ?

Post by blueshift on Nov 15, 2008 21:05:39 GMT
Aha! Well its certainly knockoff plastic, but the higher end. It hasn't stressed or bent yet with all the snapping of joints Landcross needs, and it holds together rather well. The red arm is missing the hole for the hand (but it goes in a groove, takes about a minute to widen it enough to fit fine) and the little robots cant hold any of their guns (pegs are too large) but for a novelty / Japanese transformer at 6 quid, its well worth picking up I never got the reissue, I really wanted it too
