Transformers G1 Awakening:
Whilst browsing the games available on my phone (i get £5 worth of downloads free per month on my contract) i stumbled upon a wee gem known as 'Transformers G1: Awakening'. I've been fooled by Transformers Mobile games before, such as the movie-based platformer released several months ago. This however, is a lovely little title.
The game is essentially a stripped down version of Advance Wars, featuring the G1 TF cast. For those who don't know, Advance wars is a turn based strategy war-game. I was quite surprised to see that a lot of the character art is taken from the Dreamwave era - such as the main title page and character heads when they're communicating. It's a solid little game though, nice attribute buffs when closer to comrades and such. Gameplay early on revolves around taking control of Power stations to generate energon- which is used to revive Autobots.
My favourite element is the character classes. Ratchet of course, is the resident medic - able to heal damaged comrades on the battlefield, Metroplex is used as a walking base, allowing you to activate Autobots from a reasonably impressive roster (Ironhide, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Jetfire, Blaster + tapes sp far..only a few levels in), Bumblebee playing the role of reconnaissance and Prime being the all-round powerhouse he usually is.
It's not a bad looking game either, despite the DW choice of artwork. Pretty slick package overall, i imagine it'd be a good game even without the TF glossy coat.
