Have we had a thread like this before? If so this can be deleted & we can conitnue with that.
But this is toyline only - because it it the Transformers line that gets the most toys. the comic may have comic only character but the core cast still come from the toy line.
But what are your top daft/worst names for Transformers characters [not supporting cast].

Any non-verb with "-or" tagged on the end.

I'm trying to think of all the -or names. We know Tankor - but he does fit his character, being a tank & the name not sounding very smart. sound like cannon fodder. Windbreaker sounds more llike a jet.
I also think Bludgeon is a daft name - but only due to the toy size. That the name fits more of a larger toy not a small tank.

Bludgeon is a terrible name because he is a tank who is also a samurai robot. Neither of those involve bludgeoning weapons.

Bludgeon is a terrible name because he is a tank who is also a samurai robot. Neither of those involve bludgeoning weapons. I see what you mean about Bludgeon, but I had always felt it was appropriate in terms of refering to bluntness - him being a Western-style movie samurai and a tank, neither of which are usually depicted as being particularly subtle. Mind you. Yari can be used as bludgeoning weapons (see Hidden Fortress for Mifune using the blunt end of a yari as much as the pointy end), and you could certainly bludgeon someone with the non-sharpened side of a katana if you didn't feel like cutting them with the sharp side..... If Blugeon had been the same size as the first wave Pretenders then he would be ok. [Octopunch toy is amazing because you can do so much with his shell & inner robot] It would be like releasing a micromaster Unicron back in 89 - which Hasbro could have done [& why haven't they redone Deadend into Mini Unciron].

Cheetor is the name that sticks in my head as most gratuitous mangling of a real word by pointlessly changing the ending to "-or".

Leaf?
I think the daftest TF names are those used in the live action films like The Doctor, Dino, Que, Igor etc. Not to mention Sideswipe, Skids and that thing in the films they call Megatron! Just plain madness!

Joe. Kirk.
All of Team Bullet Train - and, indeed, Team Bullet Train is itself a daft name.
Dai Atlas sounds like a Welsh geography teacher.

What's Unicron all about? Always sounded like a typo of Unicorn to me. Or does it mean something else I'm not familiar with? A lot of the established names, I think we take for granted.
Cheetor wins this in my opinion btw.

This might get a few comments back - but the "Hercules - the final combined form of their unofficial Devastator" parts do [to me anyway] have better names than the originals. They sound more impressive.

It's a team .... mainly made of bullet trains It might be accurate, but it still sounds daft. Gobot daft. (Now there's some daft names. Leader-1, Spay-C, Res-Q....) As for the individual names, Midnight Express? Really? Why not just call him Mail Train? Or Choo Choo? Other daft names, um, B.B., Dirgegun, Nexus Maximus (for one unfortunate reason). Hi-Test.

Midnight Express will never be beaten for most inappropriate name if the film of the same name has been seen.

All of Team Bullet Train - and, indeed, Team Bullet Train is itself a daft name. It is fairly daft in one respect. But it is probably better than translating the original Japanese name - "New Mainline Team" probably would be even less effective in English. I don't mind names like BB - that one especially sounds like a nickname that everyone uses rather than what his manufacturer/builder/matrixer/Biomorphic Parent called him. Karl

What's Unicron all about? Always sounded like a typo of Unicorn to me. Or does it mean something else I'm not familiar with? Yes! When I pre-order my Armada Unicron years ago from Argos, the nice Lady's voice on the other end of the phone said "Transformers Armada: Unicorn!". I chuckled, so I did.
