I LOVED Arkham Asylum, just ordered the sequel. In the end I opted for the HMV exclusive version with the free t-shirt and comic (£37). Nearly got the Collectors Edition with the Cd and the statue, but decided that £55 really is too much to pay for a computer game, despite how lovely it looks. Only paid that kind of money for one game - Deus Ex:Human Revolution, and that was because of a specific ingame bonus with that edition (suppressed sniper rifle) and a mini art-book which, considering it is the most precisely designed game was a shoe-in. Arkham City looks like it"ll be a good'un but I'm not preordering it, as I am not sure that I will be able to afford it until the next pay-period. Other things may have a claim on my entertainment budget at the moment. Karl

YES. Arkham Asylum was great.
I once compared it to a Zelda game and got shot down, but I stand by my comparison!

He's Batman, he has a utility belt compartment for food.
I haven't been able to purchase Arkham City as yet - my discretionary spending budget is now accounted for until after payday as a result of my holiday. Shall have to decide next month whether to get that or Ace Combat: Assault Horizon to tide me over the winter months.

I got this today, but I am resisting playing it. My xbox classic got the red ring of death earlier, so I bought a slimline, which came with Arkham City for £160.
As I am skint, I am in two minds to keep this game, or sell it on and borrow it from my friend when he is done with his in a week or two.

Completed the main story the day after posting.
While very good I have to admit to being a little dissapointed, It just felt a little dumbed down and easier than the original.
Boss battles where way easier and required a lot less working out being quite basic fights (bar one) than the boss fights in the original which required a little working out.
Plus the final battle was a dissapointment, as I completed it on my 1st go without dying.
In comparison I have yet to beat Titan Joker in the original.

Working my way slowly through this - I quite like the cluttered, built-up environment of this game compared to the more open feel of the first. It feels more like Batman's natural environment to be soaring above narrow alleys and to be able to strike from nowhere and then vanish again into the air leaving thugs reeling. (Funny moment of emergent gameplay - I was standing on a rooftop listen to a thug rant at me for being chicken and decided that Batman was tired of this guys lip, so I executed a drop attack.... and as I was halfway down the thug shouted up at me to come down and fight him. End result, he finishes his line just as Batman's boot connects with hsi head.... I essayed a growled Conroyesque "I'm here" before having to put the controller down for a moment because I was smirking too much to be Batman).
What I haven't enjoyed is the whole thing with Catwoman - firstly she feels oversexualized, and secondly the fact that every line of dialogue out of any thug about her is either the B-word or a sexually loaded threat. I'm quite glad that the Catwoman sections are fairly few and far between to be honest.
Other than that it is still an excellent Batman simulator - I like the fact that it asks you to think strategically, use your advantages and above all use brains rather than brawn... like Batman. (The leaping from target to target in a melee is such a Neal Adamsesque thing that it makes the Bat-fanboy in me happy too).
Zazz is starting to annoy me mind you - he is an aberrant Z-list part of the Bat-rogues gallery and it does not feel like her should be taking up the amount of time that he is. But... he has a hostage and I am Batman, so it is my duty to intervene after all..
