Lack of a Transformer toy

What element of any Transformer toy just doesn't last long in the toy design? This can be any toy any line. but for example.

Original Optimus Prime toy. How he does suffer from weak elbow & knee joints after 20 years. Does the pre-Transformers blue cab have this same problem or is it the change for the Hasbro release?

Strange you say that as only yesterday I was transforming my original 84 G1 Ultra Magnus, and his white Prime elbow and knee joints were uber tight

I have a Pre Transformers Shack wave who's knee joints are quite floppy, he can still stand but you wouldn't want to gently knock him as he'd end up flat on his back lol, not sure how the actual G1 Shockers knee's are after all these years.
