You really deserve all praise for these books, James. I'd never have thought so much of genuine interest could be written about a run of comics, which is perceptive, fair, revealing and completely free of gratuitous padding. In particular, you've done a tremendous job getting the writers - and not just Simon Furman! - re-reading their work from the '80s and then speaking about it. It makes all the difference.
Well done.
Now back to work on Volume 3, you!

I'm about to take mine out to the park with me. Flicking through it just now I realised how much I love John Stokes' illustrations to State Games. The one with Megatron falling on the bridge is an iconic one for me.
Also, I love the Annual repro page in the front - "This book belongs to...................". Happy memories!

Defo, the introductions and the history of TF UK are worth the cost of the books alone. Great work James!

I received this through my door at the weekend, and promptly failed to have time to do more than flick through it. I am very much looking forward to getting a chance to have a proper read of it over the long weekend though. It looks like the same thorough job that was done in volume one.
I love the fact that these volumes are actually providing some historical context to the stories as they reprint them. It adds a little something to have the opportunity to read how they came to be as well as the stories themselves.

Budget pressures mean I will have to pass on this for now, but glad to hear it is going down well for when I have the spare pennies for it.

I continue to be impressed by the sheer amount of material that appears in these volumes. Simon Furman has probably answered the same questions 100 times, but there's always something new in his descriptions that I previously didn't know about. I'm also impressed by the James Hill interview, which provides insight on a story that has had a significant influence upon the TF mythos.
It's great to see the Icarus Theory Special Team booklet and text stories in print again (shame about p52-54, though). I had been reading the comic since #37, but it was only when I began organising my collection that I realised I was missing Icarus Theory. Having read the story in print (as opposed to the computer screen), I'm beginning to wonder if my parents thought the story was too violent and refused to show it to me. The picture of Swoop killing a man is unexpected, even for a comic about fighting robots.
The Dinobot Hunt storyline has lost absolutely nothing over the last 26 years. I have to admit that I struggled to process the artwork in this story at the time, having no knowledge of sandstorms at the time. However, it became one of my favourite stories a few years later. I'm surprised that Michael Bay hasn't tried to use the story for a Transformers movie yet.

Got my copy now - IDW should have done a copy check so they could have correct the print error with #46. anyone getting this for the first time might not know to read the last 3 pages in the correct order.
