Anyone out there with a Steam account might want to give it a browse. I just picked up Portal 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Mass Effect 2, the new Monkey Island Remastered Collection and Cave Story+ for 33 quid.
The former 2 games came out this year and they were less than a tenner each. Definitely worth sniffing around.

Oooh Cave Story+? Cave Story is one of the best games I've played in my life, well worth a shot by anyone (it is a shooty platformer with a plot) The original game is also free to play, there are details here: www.cavestory.org/Also Hnnnnnn there's a 3DS version?!?! If anything would convince me to buy a 3DS it is that!! |

I just spent yesterday evening replaying Cave Story, got up to the Final Cave on hard D: What's in the + version Nick? I saw some screenshots of the underside of the island  |

I dunno yet. It mentions a higher resolution play mode, but not much else that I saw. I was just happy to give something back to the creators for putting Cave Story together- I wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't among the sale items.

I was just happy to give something back to the creators for putting Cave Story together- I wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't among the sale items. -Nick Oh absolutely, it's such a great game that the creator should be showered with riches (the entire thing was just one guy actually, he did all the gameplay and graphics and music himself, which is mad) It blew my mind the first time I played it, especially the moment after the first Core battle (no spoilers for those who might play it) but wow. I did a runthrough of it last night and this morning, ended up playing for a good few hours solidly and completed it (apart from Sacred Grounds, that's just too much for me!). I even managed to get through the boss rush at the end first go! For anyone interested, the original version of the game is Freeware, and can be downloaded here: www.cavestory.org/downloads_csdeluxe.phpThere's a slightly spruced up version you can get for the Wii, 3DS and now PC, thanks to the popularity of it, and it's a testament to how great it is that people will pay money for something they could play for free. |
