Liz has a Samsung N130 Netbook.
We've never got any sound out of it before today. Having spoken to a friend I was persuaded to take another look at it.
I downloaded the drivers for the soundcard and installed them. Bingo, sound.
I rebooted the machine. No Sound.
I reinstalled the drivers. Sound.
I rebooted the machine. No Sound.
Repeat ad nauseum.
Any ideas on how to make the fix stick? The sound card obviously works so why is there no sound from it on start up?

This is very strange. There are two parts to Windows drivers, the library that implements the hardware specific code according to an API that Windows knows how to use (WDM) and registry entries to tell Windows to load the driver.
Both of these would be persistent across restarts.
I think my friend had an N130, so I'll ask him if he ever had to do anything cooky to get it to work. He runs Linux though, presuming you have Windows XP?

Yup
And suddenly it works through a reboot, most odd.
