I assert elsewhere that some of the best science fiction stories are set in snow.
The examples I thought of were DW: Tenth Planet and SW: Empire Strikes back.
Can you think of any other good ones? Not just TV & Film: Books & Comics too.....

The SENSE of isolation caused by the snow is essential to The Thing.

I've never seen The Thing, or it's original The Thing From Another World but there's two derivatives from the original that spring to mind as being good: The first two episodes of DW: The Seeds of Doom and the X-Files s1 episode Ice.
