What ever happened to this guy? I remember his excellent coloring work for the covers of different Marvel UK titles long before the days of Photoshopping.
I hope he's still active somewhere.

As far as I know he is still working, he was one of the rotating artists on Nikolai Dante in 2000ad and has done a fair few Dredd tales and The Bendatti Vendetta.

There's 2 John Burns. John M Burns isn't the one creditted John Burns on Sonic the comic who I think is the John Burns who did Transformers - or is it JMB that did Marvel?
John M Burns is mainly an artist than colourist.

I'd thought this thread was about the legendary John Burns who worked with Chris Claremount on X-Men, who drew Infinite Crisis, and who drew some of the most iconic artwork of our time. >_<
THAT Burns is still around, but doesn't get as much work since the invention of the Internet finally let fans get to know him. Worst thing that happened to his career was the internet giving him a voice. He's just a cranky, racist old man.

You mean John Byrne.
He didn't draw Infinite Crisis either, that was Phil Jiminez.
But you are right about the cranky racist part judging by some of his posts online.

That Superman cover isn't Infinite Crisis, that's Crisis on Infinite Earths. And that's not drawn by Byrne either, that's George Perez. But Byrne & Perez have looked similar at times depending on who's inking them.

We should mention that there's quite a lot of love for 70s & 80s Byrne work here. Check out the Alpha Flight thread, collected editions & back issue love for more.

Is John Byrne also the guy who illustrated the Fleer Marvel Trading cards?

@philip, I mean no disrespect to his work. I love Byrne's artwork. He has a lot of what's missing in today's top artists. Just... the worst thing that ever happened to him was the developement of the internet, lol. Also, I did mean Crisis on Infinite Earths. Between that, Infinite Crisis, and Final Crisis, I have a hard time verbalizing the correct name. Not sure how much of it is poor memory, and how much is due to dyslexia. (I actually talk mixed up, if I don't watch myself) Hero, He probably has done some. Trading cars like those usually have a lot of artists working on them, across a lot of different series and years. Some have a bunch of different artists in one series, one year, and then another may be an entire set of cards dedicated to one or two artists, like Jim Lee, or Tim & Greg Hildibrant.

You've not seen John Byrne Art till you've seen it in black & white super sized Marvel UK'vision.
