The idea that Transformers have only gotten really hard to transform since the first movie is purely a myth!
Even I bought into it. I just spent three hours taking down my movie TF display, and replacing it with Beast Wars, and I tell you... some of them buggers are every bit as tricky as a movie era TF...
Tigerhawk, TM2 Megatron, Magnaboss, Tripredacus, Magmatron... my word... when you haven't messed with any of them for nearly ten years and forget what they're like, they're every bit as complexe as some of their modern decendents.

Oh I agree that some of those were super complicated, but those were more the exception rather than the rule. Most of the BW figures were still pretty simple. It seems like everything needs to be super complex nowadays.

I agree, Nige. And I agree that transformations have always been tricky. I still cannot transform Tripredacus's Bombshell chap (forgot his name)!

Oh yeah, Ramhorn (I think). That weird turning him inside out thing... That is a PITA. Prowl in Magnaboss if you don't remember the Magna-face is supossed to go forward, is a pain trying to get the lion legs into a place they don't fit. Took me thirty minutes last night trying to fight with that.
I also don't mind complex transformation schemes as long as it's intuitive. RotF Leader Prime: not intuitive at all. Magmatron: fairly intuitive, given three separate parts.

I've never Transformed Masterpiece Megatron. I started to, using the instructions ofcourse, but then I became scared I'd break him and stopped!
Ramhorn (thanks CJ), I cannot transform. And the Beast Wars horse I can't transform either. I had a very old one of him, and he disintegrated as I transformed him. Now I can't even figure out how to put him back together again!

I've transformed everything of mine at least once. Although, RotF Leader Prime came very close. That is the only non-sixchanger I've never been able to figure out. And the instructions didn't even help. A friend of mine had to walk me through it, almost half a year after I got it.
Sixshot, Quickswitch, and any toy from the Gigatron mold I need to refer to the instructions in order to remember every mode they have. (Especially that Gigatron/DevilGigatron/Deathsaurus tend not to look like anything)

I've had the Beast Wars Neo figures in robot mode on a shelf for the past 10+ years, and I'm now packing them away back into their boxes, which has taken a fair while. Mach Kick was easily the worst.

I struggled mightily with United Wreck-Gar and Perceptor due to the combination of horrible transformation schemes and fragility-induced Fear. Sold them both a couple of weeks ago. Dreadful toys.

I used to have issues with BWN Mach Kick and LAM Leader Brawl, but now I'm good with both of them I do need to get a RID Magnus and Optimus though.... |
