Well, that had more to do with the abuse the lineart was getting courtesy of colourist Frank D'armata to be honest than any drop in quality from Davis.

aha! I am enlightened. But nonetheless it is the worst Davis' art has ever looked.

Oh yes.
He's been scathing about a few of the colour artists he's had in recent years, due to the photoshop abuse hiding/obscuring and in his opinion damaging the lineart.

Fortunately one of my very favourite (and previously unreprinted?) pieces of Alan Davis art is going to get an airing in the near future: New Mutants Annual 3: Warlock vs The Impossible Man

Wait. Alan Davis is on Cap, with Farmer inking and Laura Martin on colours? Yet again the unmissable slips past me!
I grew a bit bored of the Brubaker stuff around the time of Cap's return from the dead, but this changes things. Off to the LCS on the way home.

Not sure if his issues are out yet.... but man that looks like good Davis unlike the stuff that was in UXM that I think Andu and I have discussed before here

Turn to the back and look at the next issue cover. That's good Alan Davis squishy that is! And sitting in a WHS near you right now. Still think it's fab!

Some very nice looking stuff there, and if that doesn't add up to a real All-Star creative team then I don't really know what does.

That's one comic you need to read - #1-8 written by Alan Davis & the X-men 2 parter. #9-12 by someone else & not too good. But Marvel US keep messing AD around so he keep quitting.

I like that they're doing the story-continuing-between-annuals thing again.

Must admit, as much as I like Davis, I've never cared much for Clandestine.

It's the first Alan Davis strip work I've seen since that X-Men run. I had nerves. <looks at Galactus cover above> I really shouldn't have worried.

Fuck me, the variant covers are getting out of hand.
Nice art from Alan Davis though.
No real surprise though.

It does look lovely. Trying to resist picking this up just for the art.
