I think my first set of PCCs will be the Dinobots. Not too enamoured with the line so far, but these are wee dinosaurs; so I must have them.

I'm not a big fan of Grimstone's bow-legged stance, but I love the Dinobot designs. I'm still not cottoning onto their non-transforming ways, but if there's one PCC I'm getting it'll be this one.

I thought I'd email Hasbro's US Customer Services ..... they kept telling me to mail the UK Customer services. So I have done:
I've just seen pictures of the Power Core Combiners Stunticons 5-pack due in the new year - see tfsource.com/products/view/product_id/1995/ for a packaged shot.
Please tell me you're aren't seriously using the name Spastic for the main figuure in this set as the packaging indicates? The term is offensive and derogatory here in the United Kingdom, especially towards disabled people - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spastic for details.
Transformers has had a yellow & purple race car before - you should *seriously* consider using the name Dragstrip ( www.tfu.info/1986/Decepticon/DragStrip/dragstrip.htm ) for this toy instead.
Thanks for your attention in this matter.
Philip

Obviously its supposed to be referring to a Spastic Missile, but that is an unfortunate name still

As I said in the new pics thread, I think it's too offensive to avoid a purchase. I cannot miss the chance to own a Transformer called Spastic.

Dual Masters Spastic Missile just remembered this too from a card game I sometimes play, which shows that the word Spastic might be okay to use as well for a kids product

Nope, it's offensive there too.

Nope, it's offensive there too. I know it's offensive, but it seems that the copyrighters etc don't see it as that bad though it seems weird, especially since they openly changed slag to snarl in tfa, especially because slag is offensive here, yet they dont just call this guy drag strip

That is..... wildy misjudged if they release it over here. Hopefully this one will either be skipped, or renamed for European release because it just isn't acceptable for UK release as it stands.

In case anyone missed my earlier post, "spaz" appears on the US Tech Specs for RPMs Mudflap. I don't know what the UK card says. No sign of RPMs at the local Poundstretcher yet, but my parents picked some up for me while shopping out of town: Starscream, Ironhide, Rollbar, Skids and Mudflap. These are US cards, complete with Tech Specs! The categories are different to standard Tech Specs, titled Vehicle Data: Max. Speed, Horsepower, Ramming Power and Armor. I was surprised by Mudflap's politically incorrect bio: "Mudflap is what humans call a spaz." It's not an offensive term in the US, apparently, though the origin is the same as in the UK: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpasticI think a few more emails to Hasbro are in order. What's the address, Phil?

According to the website askhasbro@hasbro.co.uk
But that looks different to the address the US website had. I'll fire the laptop back up and see where I sent the email to.
Edit: They directed me to email consumer_affairs@hasbro.co.uk

Thanks Phil, just fired off an e-mail of complaint. That sort of insensitivity actually makes me livid. It's not as chuckleworthy as 'Slag' or 'Slapper', it's just wrong!
EDIT: Shot off an e-mail to Scope too, maybe an official statement to Hasbro could get them to be a bit more diligent in future.

Strange how a word can change so much in 30 odd years. I honestly can't say the term brings to mind insults, I know it does but I just wasn't exposed to it growing up, I hear it and think of the medical condition. Which actually makes the name choice even odder unless he is meant to be disabled. Either way not a smart name choice.
Spaz was used frequently so that strikes me as far more of an insult yet thanks to decades of US TV I think of it in their usage.

I note that the BBTS listing for this toy doesn't include the commanders name.
I hope that Hasbro have realised and as embarrassing as this is, it's just an image that's escaped even though the toy has since been renamed. (and if it is, see how much a PCC Spastic box goes for in years to come!)
But I'm not counting on it.
