Just like Energon I'm looking to re-aquire certain Armada toys. Here the list is shorter, because I've kept more Armada toys/moulds. The hit list for Armada is - Megatron
- Shockwave (Takara Tidal Wave)
- Jetfire
I've regretted selling Megatron for a long time and there's no way I'm buying the CW Leader as a substitute. If you get Megatron, you have to get Tidal Wave and I feel I'd like the Japanese version this time (Nick: you thought there was a Takara/Songkong version of Shockwave in the ToyFu treasure chests?) Jetfire too I've missed, again a fun toy. But my Armada holdings are much larger than Energon: ALL Minicon Teams CD Star Saber in blue Optimus Prime Superbase Optimus Prime Deluxe Thrust Wheeljack Hoist Nemesis Prime PL Hot Shot PL Cyclonus PL Demolishor Skywarp Overload Predacon All 4 Armada deluxe beast Unicron In addition I've still got the Universe Swerve (Blurr repaint) and Battle In A Box Ultra Magnus (which probably also means I have the Treadbolt repaint of Sideswipe. Wow, that's a fair few. Hmmmm, maybe a Red Alert might be nice too. But looking at the list above of deluxes a lot of those wouldn't be too hard to retool for proper hands. Demolishor might need a folding hand into arm gimmick but that should be doable at deluxe size.

My Minicon Fu is strong but I'm struggling here What's the purple Runway at the top right? It isn't the version from the Japanese Air Assault Team. I seem to remember that they used translucent purpleish plastic? Edit - I think I mean Air Extermination rather than Air Assault... Further EDIT - No, I don't. They were called the Air Assault Team. He had grey limbs though. And wasn't that purple.
My KO warning meter is going off here....

While playing with Shockwave I've been moved to update my frankly lacking review. while trotting out the stansard line about not enough Armada toys can hold 5mm weapons I discovered that Shock(Tidal)Wave can! Turn his forearm so the inner edge of the arm faces up and that reveals a couple of conveniently sited and shaped screw holes for you to tool him up with.
The X-Dimension Sea Team is here. Perfect match for Shockwave's purple.

It's a shame that for the most part there's no UK sightings available to check with for this period. The previous versions of this forum are long gone. TFW had an outage in 2006 and lost most thread data before then www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-sightings/86570-united-kingdom-transformers-sightings.htmlTMUK chat is really all there is but at about that time we were migrating here for our day to day business groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/tmuk-chat/infoI'd be casting doubt on spurious regional reports if it wasn't for having experienced it myself: The ONLY time I ever saw Armada Overload on sale was in the Whitney Woolworths. (again Ralph and Karl tell me they saw plenty of him in Scottish ASDAs) Never once in SW London and the environs and at that time I was travelling widely looking for toys. I saw one Overload ever, in a Toymaster.

Here's my memory of the Armada Voyager distribution: Red Alert & Starscream: everywhere. Launch wave. Scavenger: everywhere and shelfwarmed like crazy well into Energon. Thundercracker: Loads in Woolworths. Overload: See above, seen once. Skywarp: saw ONE with the Overload in Woolworths Whitney. Believed at the time they were a mixed case. Turns out both were solid cased as Skywarp turned up in The Entertainer and stayed for AGES. Predacon & PL Red Alert: Entertainer had both. Might have been around the time/after Energon started, so probably clearanced. I saw every Armada deluxe toy save Wheeljack, believed not released in the UK, PL Demolishor, Brown & Blue PL Thrust, Cheetor and Nemesis Prime. Twas a great day when I found PL Hotshot, PL Cyclonus, Airazor & Nightscream and, especially, Red Thrust in Kingston's Entertainer. www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-sightings/86570-united-kingdom-transformers-sightings-post613128.html

The best thing about Armada was when Woolworth's ordered their entire years stock as the Blurr/Supercon Prime wave.

Oh lord yes, I'd forgotten that! They were there for AGES and Woolies never got any more deluxe.

Nope. The local Woolies got in every deluxe.

Nope. The local Woolies got in every deluxe. -Ralph Oh wow. Round my way, all the Woolworths just stocked the Blurr/Supercon Prime wave forever. The only other figures on the shelf were the big Prime. And then the repaint big Prime. Forever.

There was a Woolies a few minutes walk from my then-abode so I passed it every day on the way back from work. It was my go-to place for Transformers and during Armada/Energon time in particular there wasn't much of the range that they did not get in. Prime and Blurr passed very swiftly. The only Supercon I recall finding it rare to see was the black repaint of Supercon Optimus (though I still saw him).
I forget which range it was now but Woolies was the only place I saw tank Unicron and the Cybertron Primal.

My memories of that time are fuzzy, but I know that my Armada toys were all a mixture of Woolies and the local import comic shop I frequented at the time. My Wheeljack is a Takara one; I don't think I ever saw the Hasbro one either.

Bought both versions of Tidalwave on eBay today, I have them already because the guy lived nearby so dropped them and he saved me the postage fee. Will have a play about later tonight.

I love Tidalwave too. He's one of my favourite Armada figures. Bog all articulation but such an imposing robot. The transformation between all the modes is every bit as easy as it looks as well which is nice. It's a pleasant change of pace.

There's more money that needs spent now. Worth it in that case though. Armada Megatron is a *great* toy. Far better than the equivalent Prime.

Amazing toy. Possibly the best Megatron ever. Sold mine years ago. Regretted it instantly. Rebought last year. Loving it. And it's got a VERY special feature. It should be noted that there's a THIRD Tidal Wave in addition to the Armada and Energon versions: the Micron Legend Shockwave: see www.tfu.info/2003/Decepticon/TidalWave/tidalwave.htm and scroll down. That's what I've current got.

I love Tidalwave too. He's one of my favourite Armada figures. Bog all articulation but such an imposing robot. Years ago I bought a junk/partly customised lot for the classic/Uni stuff in it. It was when the classics/Universe stuff was getting to crazy prices and I could see a couple of figures in it that more than covered the cost of the whole lot once I put them back together. It left me with some free bits I wanted for customs plus some AEC things I had mostly ignored including Tidalwave. Eventually I realised that it had been customised. The upper legs had been replaced by Cybertron Jetfire or something like that and it give Tidalwave brilliant articulation. Its the same with most figures, picture them with the joints that they are missing and its frustating to realise how close they came to making Armada an almost perfect toyline.

Yes, thinking back, it was the return to nice traditional blocky 'bots that got me back into Transformers... after my dark non-TF years.... I... I'm sorry, I thought I could talk about by now, after all these years... but I can't....
